*_DELIVER ME FROM BLOODGUILTINESS, O GOD!!!_*
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
*Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God*, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
-Psalm 51:10-14.
Bloodguiltiness is being guilty of blood and this is a critical prayer from the Psalmist which is relevant till Christ comes. It is a critical burden for us to look at this matter because both believer and unbeliever can be guilty of blood, a sinner and a saint can be guilty of blood except the Lord have Mercy!
There are ways we can become guilty of blood, which can be either deliberate or through negligence. Noting that when you are a deliberate sinner, you are guilty of the blood! Sinning willfully makes you guilty of the blood as seen in Hebrews 10 and I read;
"26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
Have you had the opportunity to repent from your sin on several occasions where the Spirit of God has given you the chance to repent, sending you the message of salvation through different means but you refused or you prospon it? Then you are guilty of the blood of the Lord. A sinner is guilty of the blood which he or she might have incurred through MURDER: which can be by manslaughter; through killing, abortion, hatred, slander and anger. So as a sinner you are guilty of the blood of your salvation which the Lord had shed for you and you are also guilty of the blood of sins which you committed by your hands.
A believer is found guilty of the blood when you presumptuously partake in the Lord's supper without proper examining of yourself as seen in 1 Corinthians 11:
"27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body."
Taking communion and partaking on the Lord's table casually and presumptuously can make you guilty of the blood because you are not discerning the Lord's body.
A saint or a believer is also guilty of blood as discovered in Ezekiel 33 and I read;
"1 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth."
Believer in Christ Jesus! Are you free from the blood of your family members who are not saved? Are you free from the blood of your neighbours who are not saved?
Are you free from the blood of your colleagues or business partners who are not saved?
Are you free from the blood of your customers, whom you collect their money, but you never give them Jesus?
Are you free from the blood of your pupils or students as a teacher?
Are you free from the blood of your students as a lecturer?
Are you free from the blood of your classmates as a student?
Are you free from the blood of your teachers and lecturers as a student?
Are you free from the blood of your customers as a mechanic?
Are you free from the blood of your customers as a fashion designer, who you sew anyhow style because you want their money?
As believers in Christ Jesus, whichever life endeavours or wherever you find yourself, the Lord might have given you the opportunity to witness to a soul that comes your way but when we fail to do it, we become guilty of blood.
You can be guilty of the blood of your fellow choir member that you have an urge from the Holy Spirit to speak to, but you refuse because you are not the pastor or because you don't want to be criticised as being "holier than thou".?
So beloved believer in Christ, kindly check up yourself, you might be guilty of blood and hence the prayer of the Psalmist is very critical and relevant to us now and we must all cry to the Lord; "DELIVER ME FROM BLOODGUILTINESS O GOD" in Jesus Name!
Have a wonderful and a blessed day.
