GRACE GIFTS
For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith. Romans 12:3
Grace is the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life and God has given to each one a measure of faith whereby they may grow in grace and knowledge. It is an objective system of truth, the gospel and it is a vast, vital, and virtuous to our salvation. We therefore are endowed with two types of knowledge while we are inhabitants of this side of eternity. The first which we are familiar with is natural and the second which becomes our innate nature is spiritual. The faith lifts those in humanity that embrace it; it excels their intellect and enlarges their moral capacity. Paul the Apostle has been graced or favored with God’s mandates on life and seeks to enlighten those that have received Christ’s grace “Charis” and who are now being endowed with “Charismata” is grace-gifts; a specific gift is “Charisma”.
(6) God’s marvelous grace imparts to each one of us varying gifts and ministries that are uniquely ours. So if God has given you the grace-gift of prophecy, you must activate your gift by using the proportion of faith you have to prophesy.
(7) If your grace-gift is serving, then thrive in serving others well. If you have the grace-gift of teaching, then be actively teaching and training others.
8) If you have the grace-gift of encouragement, then use it often to encourage others. If you have the grace-gift of giving to meet the needs of others, then may you prosper in your generosity without any fanfare! If you have the gift of leadership, be passionate about your leadership. And if you have the gift of showing compassion, then flourish in your cheerful display of compassion. Romans 12:6-8 TPT
The point of being gifted is to engage in the gift through activating it by faith. There is a clear distinction between believers and active participators. James the brother of Jesus declared “Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works”. Many in the body of Christ have an endowment of the Holy Spirit which is specific to them; but fail to utilize it to the glory of God.
Remember, it is the same Holy Spirit who distributes, activates, and operates these different gifts as he chooses for each believer. 1 Corinthians 12:11
Honestly if we are ensued with God and desire to do his will in our lives we need to examine ourselves in light of what he has prescribed for us concerning our grace gifts and talents.
Test yourselves to discover whether you are true believers: put your own selves under examination. Or do you not know that Jesus Christ is within you, unless you are reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5
G96 ἀδόκιμος; adokimos: pronounced ad-ok'-ee-mos: From G1 (as a negative particle) and G1384; unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication worthless (literally or morally): - castaway, rejected, reprobate.
Now brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant concerning the spiritual gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:1
Paul was using the anointing upon his life or the unction of the Spirit to open the eyes of fellow believers. Every believer can be given continuous revelation by the Holy Spirit to benefit others in the body of Christ. His desire was to utilize those gifts in his life to benefit everyone according to the will of God. God gives gifts not for selfishness but for selflessness. So we understand that there are grace-gifts and spiritual gifts and natural talents. We must conclude that these are influenced and infused in the believer as grace-filled endowments which are purposed to bring miraculous results to the benefit of the body. When we continue in 1st Corinthians chapter 12 we will understand that there are diversities of gift, ministries, and activities; but the intent is for the purpose of bringing unity.
8) For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
(9) to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;
(10) and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues: 1st Corinthians 12:8-10 ASV
G4152: πνευματικός; pneumatikos; pronounced phyoo-mat-ik-os': From G4151; non-carnal, that is, (humanly) ethereal (as opposed to gross), or (daemoniacally) a spirit (concretely), or (divinely) supernatural, regenerate, religious: - spiritual.
We’re talking about spiritual (pneumatikos) gifts (charismata)
(11) But the one and the same Spirit is operating in all these things, dividing separately to each one as God Himself desires. 1st Corinthians 12:11
Then Ephesians chapter four teaches us about other charismata. I love how the “Passion Translation” expounds on those gifts.
(7) And he has generously given each one of us supernatural grace, according to the size of the gift of Christ.
8) This is why he says: “He ascends into the heavenly heights taking his many captured ones with him, and gifts were given to men.”
(9) He “ascended” means that he returned to heaven, after he had first descended from the heights of heaven, even descending as far as the lowest parts of the earth.
(10) The same one who descended is also the one who ascended above the heights of heaven, in order to begin the restoration and fulfillment of all things.
(11) And he has appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists, and some with grace to be pastors, and some with grace to be teachers.
(12) And their calling is to nurture and prepare all the holy believers to do their own works of ministry, and as they do this they will enlarge and build up the body of Christ.
(13) These grace ministries will function until we all attain oneness in the faith, until we all experience the fullness of what it means to know the Son of God, and finally we become one perfect man with the full dimensions of spiritual maturity and fully developed in the abundance of Christ. Ephesians 4:7-13 TPT
Brethren; it is my hope that you will embrace the deeper things of God and the passion of the calling which comes with gifts of edification, exhortation, and consolation. When we function by the Unction of the Holy One we will be fulfilled and accomplished with humbleness and contrite heart that is not self-serving. We are in fact Saved to Serve! Selah!
Shalom, Agape, and Amen!
