All Have Sinned.
The Bible makes a bold statement concerning each person on earth when it proclaims: “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) Needless to say, not everyone will accept this. However, if we are truthful to ourselves, we will admit the truth of that passage. That been said, what can we do in order to bring a change in our life? Is there a guaranteed remedy that we can follow, or a church that can save me?
Scripture states that it is God - not humanity - who can save you and I from the consequences of our sinful ways. As flawed members of the human race, we are incapable of approaching a Holy God. Consequently, He has reached down as a loving Heavenly Father to bring redemption by sending His Son, who bore our sin upon the cross: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17). What a gracious God, what a wonderful Savior.
When we place our trust in Jesus sacrificial death upon the cross as the atonement for our sins, we become free from the power of sin which brings spiritual death. This trust leads to life eternal, translating as living eternally in Heaven with our God and Savior: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) What is the meaning of placing our trust in Jesus? Paul explained it this way: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
The reality of our salvation is not dependant on our feelings, but rather on the promise of Jesus who said: “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). On the other hand, to reject Jesus, or to misunderstand Him, is to continue living in the darkness of not knowing the true Light. John stated: "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." (John 3:18-19) Although all have sinned, our Heavenly Father has made the way for you and I to receive forgiveness and acceptance.
Today, let us put our trust in Jesus as our Savior.
