Living In A Fractured World
As we look around these days it is very obvious that we are living in a fractured world divided between good and evil. While good hearted people are ready to give a helping hand when they see a need, the contrary is that there are also people who are always looking out for themselves. These care not who may get hurt in the process, drawing them into the kingdom of darkness. This kingdom has been among us down through history constantly bringing sadness and despair, and opposition God’s Kingdom of Light.
Concerning the difference between these opposing kingdoms, and highlighting how our world is fractured, The Bible proclaims: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” (John 3:19-21)
Jesus came into our fractured world proclaiming God’s Kingdom of Light as recorded in John 8:12: “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Because there was a time when we were completely oblivious of our spiritual need until God’s Grace awakened us to our spiritual condition - sinners in need of forgiveness, Paul wrote with regards to how we should now be living our lives as Redeemed people:
“giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:12-14)
This passage describes the actions of our Heavenly Father in the lives of believers. It is by God’s Sovereign design that we have been born again through the Atonement of Jesus. Thereby, we are the set apart ones, that is, set apart from the world to share in the Kingdom of Jesus our Savior and Lord. It is our Heavenly Father who enables you and I the Grace by which we enter into the Kingdom of the Redeemed - the Kingdom of His Son. What is the qualification for entering the Kingdom? One must be born again as stated in John 3:3: "Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
Today, let us praise The Lord for rescuing us from a fractured world.
