The Vulnerability Of Satan’s Kingdom.
The one we know as the devil, is also known as Lucifer or Satan, and is a fallen angel who was cast out of Heaven. Many of the early father’s such as Origen and Augustine of Hippo believed that Scripture’s such as Ezekiel 28 and more especially Isaiah 14, speak of Lucifer’s rebellion resulting in him been cast out. When reading Isaiah 14:12-15 in the King James Version it states:
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”
Upon been cast down to the earth Satan took dominion over humanity leading the whole world astray as Revelation 12:9 states: “The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”
Looking at the evil in our world with its harvest of suffering, it is easy to understand that Satan’s kingdom is one of darkness. This kingdom brings with it damaged lives. Down through history we can read of the wars that have brought not only bloodshed, but also slavery and poverty. It is a kingdom that offers no hope beyond this life even though within it are those who claim that they serve god, however their lives and doctrines prove to the contrary. Their false teachings keep people in bondage through deception and thereby, in Satan’s kingdom of darkness.
On the other hand, the good news is that there is a Kingdom of Light, which is The Kingdom of God promising peace and hope both in this life, and also in the life to come. At the coming of Messiah, Satan’s kingdom lost it’s absolute power over humanity when Jesus proclaimed The Kingdom of God: “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15) The supremacy of Satan fell even more as Jesus trained and sent out His disciples: “The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” (Luke 10:17-18)
Once the New Covenant was established through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus, Satan’s dominion became vulnerable. Now sinful people have the opportunity to have their sins forgiven and enter The Kingdom of God. This is shown in Revelation 12:10: “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.”
We who have accepted the Lordship of Jesus are spirituality born again, and are no long under the dominion of Satan, his vulnerable power has been broken in our lives because we have become Children of God. Jesus confirmed that His mission has resulted in Satan’s power been overthrown when He stated in John 12:31: “Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.” Therefore, Jesus is the only hope for humanity by which we can be assured of life eternal with God, as stated in John 5:24: "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." If you have not as yet called upon His Name, I pray that you will not hesitate to do so.
Today, let us give thanks for God’s Kingdom of Light.
