Whoever Believes In Him Is Not Condemned.
Following the well known, and loved, Bible verse John 3:16 - which speaks of God’s love for humanity - we have these very significant verses: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.” - John 3:17-19.
The incarnation of Jesus Christ was the most significant of events in human history. Jesus was the embodiment of God in human flesh, as He stated in John 14:10-11: “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.”
Paul wrote concerning the supremacy of Jesus when writing to believers in Colossae: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,” - Colossians 1:15-19 (ESV)
Consequently, scripture’s such as these are profound in their teaching that our eternal salvation is not dependant on following religious rituals and rules, but rather, faith in the person of the Jesus who, as Savior and Redeemer, proclaimed: “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” - John 5:24. On the other hand, to reject Jesus - or to misunderstand Him - is to continue living in the spiritual darkness of not knowing God’s truth.
Believing in, and confessing, Jesus as Savior and Lord is the most important step that a person can take in this life. It is to such a person that Jude, the brother of Jesus, wrote his epistle, concluding with this doxology: “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” - Jude 1:24-25.
Today, let us give all praise to Jesus our Savior and Lord.
