*_QUICK UNDERSTANDING IN THE FEAR OF THE LORD!!!_*
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.
- Isaiah 11:3
The critical need of a believer is not to live by sight and feelings but to have quick understanding in the fear of the Lord! Having every step and action directed by the fear of the Lord. The typical example of this, we found in Genesis from the life of Joseph, he was quick of understanding in the fear of the Lord, this is clear from his words to the portipher's wife saying;
"...how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"(Gen.39:9).
The fear of the Lord made Joseph not to be enticed with what he saw about the woman, neither was he moved by what the woman was saying to him everyday.
Believers in Christ, our actions should not be based on what we see or what we hear, but it should be on our quick understanding in the fear of the Lord. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God"(Rom.8:14).
Being quick of understanding in the fear of the Lord delivers from the bondage and the lust of the flesh. Many have fallen into all forms of immoralities because of what they see and what they hear. Youths and several young people with great futures have destroyed it because of what they see and what they hear. Sister be careful of what you hear, your greatest weakness comes in what you hear, Brother be careful of what you see, your greatest weakness comes from what you see, remember King David and Bathsheba (2Sam.11:2-4).
It is important to note as our text above said; "And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears."
For leaders, genuine and biblical leadership is not based on what your eyes can see or on what your physical ears can hear, you don't conclude by what you see or by hearing of gossip, we must lead by quick understanding in the fear of the Lord! Carrying out our duties with fear and trembling before the Lord. The boldness of a leader before the people comes from the trembling before the Lord in the secret place, the leader who did not tremble before the Lord can tumble before the people.
Beloved believer in Christ, it is a divine provision for us to have the spirit of the fear of the Lord which came upon Jesus in the days of His flesh to be ours too, so that we can live and walk as Jesus walked. Let us go to the Lord in prayer to seek to be endued with this divine provision for life and godliness.
May God Almighty grant it unto us in Jesus Name!
Have a wonderful and a blessed day!
God bless us all.
