*_BEING APPROVED OF GOD!!!_*
And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
- Genesis 18:17-19.
Winning God's approval is something that we must gain every day, which must be consistent, cumulative, and progressive.
Abraham became approved of God in his walk with God that God sealed the covenant blessings of Abraham when He sworn unto Abraham by Himself in Genesis 22:15-18;
"And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."
Abraham became a man approved of God taking paths unto his approval. What are the paths that took Abraham to this point? This is very important because the scriptures revealed; "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Rom.15:4.
Abraham approval from God was written for our learning and that through patience of the scriptures, we will have hope as we look at the paths that took Abraham to win God's approval.
The scriptures also instructed in 2Tim. 2:15;
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
We must take the path of studying these men who got God's approval. Abraham was a man of like passions as we do but got God's approval. How did Abraham get to that point of his life?
The first path Abraham took was revealed in Hebrews 11:8;
"By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."
Abraham took the path of faith! He had undoubted and unwavering faith in God. This was made clear in Rom.4:17-21; "As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform."
Abraham believed God when it looked unreasonable to believe God. His first step to becoming a man approved of God is the path of faith.
We must have undoubted and unwavering faith in God, for "...without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."(Heb.11:6).
Abraham took the path of No Return! The path of No turning back!When he set out after God, he burned the bridge that would make him return to where he was coming, and that made him consistent and progressive. This was revealed in Hebrews 11:14-16, which says;
"For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
Abraham did not go back to his home country even when there was an opportunity to do that, when he was faced with famine. He never returned from following God.
These two critical paths that Abraham took brought him to winning God's approval.
The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.(Lam.3:25-26).
Believer in Christ Jesus, have faith in God, for it is impossible to please God without faith.
We must also patiently and persistently wait on God and follow God, for the Lord is good unto them that wait for Him.
May God Almighty grant us grace to win His approval always in Jesus' Name!
Have a wonderful and a blessed day!
God bless us all.
