From the pastor's desk....
Good morning to all my friends and family. It's been a few days since my last post, and I wish to apologize for the lapse in my posts. I've spent some time in prayer about posting on my page on a daily basis, and I come to the decision, that, rather than post something every single day, just to have something to say,is not necessarily the right thing to do.Let me explain.
I've felt for some time that all Christians, including myself, just talk for the sake of talking. Not really saying anything that is earth shattering or really all that profound in insight.Well, feeling a bit of conviction from the Holy Spirit,I began to pray and think about what my posts should really be all about! The Bible tells us,that even as believers, every word spoken, even idle words, will come under judgement. One of my biggest faults sometimes,is to speak my mind at the drop of a hat.Speaking our mind is not a sin,but speaking when not led by the Spirit is! I must,as a personal endeavor, learn to use my words with thought, care and wisdom. My confession is that sometimes I don't do that. And for this,I had to repent and ask for forgiveness.
I'm not one who holds to the view that all our words have some sort of mystical, esoteric power,as some believe today, because of the twisting of certain Scriptures to make it seem that we have the power to create our own reality. This is an Occultic belief, and I strongly urge true Christians to be very particular about who you listen to! But I do believe that when we speak, especially to the unsaved,we should use plainness of speech, seasoned with wisdom (salt),strictly from the word of God rightly divided. It is a popular teaching today in Christianity, that we are little gods, and we have the power to create whatever we want, simply by speaking faith filled words, long enough and repetitively enough, until our own little reality pops up! This my friends is Occultism, and it has infiltrated the church of God.
I would much rather spend time as I have, seeking the face of God for His daily presence in my life than to believe that I can blab and grab my way to the throne of God.The plain fact of the matter is,we will never get everything we think we aught to have in this life, but if we can at least experience His presence in our life on a day to day basis, what more could anyone really want? I think of the early disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, and how when He was on this earth physically, all they ever wanted for,was to just be close to Him and listen to what He had to say.
I'm not claiming to be some super spiritual person,I'm not! I struggle on a daily basis, just as all Christians do.I don't know my own heart,as Jeremiah, speaking by the Holy Spirit said,"The heart of man is deceitfully wicked above all things, who can know it?" (Jer.17:9).Only the Lord Jesus Christ knows my heart, and He also knows yours.Do not be misled into thinking that you always have a pure and spotless heart before God,we don't.Only because of Faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, can God proclaim that we are justified in His sight, and made righteous.Never should we ever believe that we have "Arrived".We haven't! We will not arrive, until the day we close our eyes in death or the Rapture/Resurrection takes place.
The best advise I could ever give any person,is to allow the Lord to do what verse 10 says of Jeremiah 17.Allow God to search your heart on a daily basis, asking Him for the refiners fire to root out any and all hindrances to His manifest presence in our lives. It's the dross in our lives that makes us impure, but the fire of the Holy Spirit,is what will remove it.It is my hearts desire to just be closer to my Abba Father, and to experience Him,I really don't care about the material things in life anymore.Sure they make life easier, but I'm not attracted to them the way I used to be.It's like when a child waits all day for their daddy to come home from work, and as soon as he enters the door, the child runs to their daddy and flings themselves into his arms. It's not because they want something from him materially. But it's because they want to be near their father. They know instinctively that daddy loves them, and has only their best interests at heart.
As children of the Most High God,let us draw near to Him without any pretenses, without wanting anything from Him except His loving arms wrapped around us.Allow His strength and His love and wisdom to permeate our lives, and let's just enjoy His presence in our lives once again! He has already promised that all your needs will be met,and to my knowledge and memory,I've never gone without food, clothing or a place to live. What more can anyone really ask for?..........Thank you for your time and consideration............be blessed in the Mighty name of Jesus, pastor John.
