Dana R. Ritchie - WALK IN PROSPERITY
How can I give substance if I am a man of no substance! If I am rich in God first and foremost, then are not those riches within my possession the possession of God, and if I am rich in my relationship with God, devoted, loyal, and loving. My responsibility regarding those possessions are the responsibility of a steward of God’s. To which I am devoted to advance the gospel and the kingdom of God. This then renders every possession in my care as the property of God.
Therefore, having substance through the stewardship of God is the ability to give to those in need which are within the perimeters of my ability to give. I can say emphatically I own nothing, I am just a vessel which has a responsibility to utilize those resources for the commission of my calling as a wise steward of God. Discerning the voice of God in the allocation of those resources, and being dedicated to responsible stewardship principles which will bring God’s trust and continual promotion within the kingdom of God.
Seeking riches to be rich is unbiblical, seeking God’s blessings which include riches to be a wise steward for the advancement of the Kingdom of God is a divine mandate. I will said it again as I have said so many times in the past, “ the greatest wealth in the world is a intimate relationship with God “. Why, because if one truly loves God first and foremost everything else in their lives will fall into the proper perspective and the consequent obedience to God’s word, will, and ways.
Because some do not understand biblical prosperity, they cringe at the word prosperity. They have not studied the whole counsel of God’s word concerning biblical prosperity that God gives to those whom walk upright and whose ways are pleasing unto the Lord, whose hearts are not possessed by material things but by the Spirit of the Living God. God knows the hearts of his children, he knows whom he can trust with material wealth and those that it would totally ruin because of their unnatural affection for it.
Wealth and Idolatry are closely associated, because people have worshipped the wealth of this world. In their pursuit of wealth some have become enslaved by it, they have become heartless, merciless, and narcissistic. These kind of people use their wealth to control, manipulate, and to abuse people and to exploit the poor. These people are highly influenced by demonic power and become filled with covetousness which equates to idolatry. The mark of a person who has true riches verses those whom just have the riches of this world are easily definable if one takes the time to investigate.
True Riches are expressed by a righteous obligation of faithfulness to God, and a love that denotes self-denial, true riches expresses that one is secure in and of God, that no one is guaranteed another breath. That we brought nothing into this life and we shall surely leave this life without anything. True riches pursue God’s heart, not what’s in God’s hand. One cannot possess the true riches and worship the wealth of this world at the same time. One who possesses true riches has yielded their right of possession of the wealth of this world and relinquished their charge over it to God. One who has true riches becomes a charitable person giving back to God that which is already his, we have no rightful ownership of our possessions, just a valid stewardship. Therefore we do not serve money but God and as wise stewards we make money serve the purposes of God.
In God’s economy if a person is able bodied, that person the bible says should work. Work is the means whereby God prospers his people to provide for themselves and for others. Two quotes come to mind “ If a man will not work, neither should he eat “ and “ a man who will not provide for his family is worse than an infidel”.
Why do people work? To make money! Is that a sin? No! But when we work and prosper we should remember the works of God that advance the kingdom of God. God expects us to give back a portion of our prosperity to propagate and demonstrate the gospel through supporting ministries and helping the poor. The bible is threaded with this real and practical principle both in the old testament and the new. Work is the means by which God provides for us, and work is the means by which God provides for others through us. God is a God who is able to give breakthroughs miraculously as we seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and those things which are needed, those things that sustain, those things that preserve us in the physical realm he will provide.
If we are truly faith based in our trust in God’s economy, in his ability to sustain us as we go forward to seek first his kingdom and righteousness, our trust should not be in the governments of mankind or even in ministers or ministries. Our trust, our faith, and our confidence should solely be in God period. As long as there is anything in our possession we label “ MINE” and not “ HIS” we are missing the mark concerning prosperity. If there is anything in our possession that we are not willing to give up at God’s command and not the manipulation of man, then we are practicing Idolatry concerning that possession.
He is the Master of the Miraculous! He has the ability to move mountains of misery, to motivate the unmovable, to breakdown the barriers which hold back blessings, to touch circumstances through divine intervention. God is a God who prospers his children spiritually so they will becomes stewards of righteousness, rightly dividing the word of truth and practicing the principles to progress and advance the kingdom of God among the kingdoms of man.
Brethren keep the faith today by determining to examine yourselves to see if you serve God or Greed. Then turn to God with all your heart and be filled with true riches, and become a person of substance so that you may be able to give substance as a practical principle of keeping your faith in God, and the faith will keep you prospering spiritually, and advancing the kingdom of God through wise stewardship.
