IT’S NOT WHAT’S ON THE OUTSIDE: IT’S WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE!
But the LORD said unto Samuel: 'Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.' 1st Samuel 16:7
Maybe its time to quit looking at the external things in our lives, and seek to change some of our internal things. Myself, I have come to understand no one is too handsome or beautiful, wealthy or poor, talented or not talented, connected or disconnected, to not be rejected of the Lord.
Saul was the People’s Choice:
Saul was head and shoulders above his peers, in appearance he looked the part of a King, but his heart was far from obeying God, inwardly he was full of pride, rebellion, bitterness, and jealousy. God ultimately rejected him because these things went unchecked or confronted, and he rejected God’s commandment, he usurped it by doing what was right in his own eyes. His obstinate actions caused him to the lose the Kingship and the Kingdom.
David was the Lord’s Choice:
The Same day David was anointed by Samuel, Saul was dethroned in the Spirit, God lifted his blessings, favor, and anointing off of him. God saw in David the heart of a King, even though he was recorded as a nice looking young man, it was the heart of David that set him head and shoulders above his peers. Even though David was a man who made many mistakes in his life, God looked to David’s heart. David was a man whose character grew more godly as his years grew. He was a man of repentance and a man whose desire at heart was to be pleasing to God. His pliable actions caused him to gain the Kingship and the Kingdom.
Jesus spoke of external or superficial examination:
“Do not form superficial judgments, but form the judgments that are just." John 7:24 WNT
Where are we when it comes to concluding where we are spiritually. If we base it solely upon those external things like our looks, power, position, and prestige we will miss what God is looking at. Saul had it all as the King of the Kingdom, but served himself, we dare not be like this earthly king who thought he should be the king sitting on the throne of his own heart. But we should be like the teachable King David, whose desire was to allow God to sit upon the throne of his heart.
Release:
Brethren keep the faith by releasing your life totally into the providence of God. Allow him to investigate then abolish those things which hinder your spiritual progress. For it is only those who worship Him in Spirit and Truth who advance in the Kingdom of God. Sometimes this process can be painful, but its purpose is for your progress! Remember its not what’s on the Outside, its what’s on the Inside! That’s a Faith Fact from a Faith Perspective!
