DON’T PROPHESY OUT OF YOUR HEART!
(23) Am I a God near at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?
(24) Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
(25) I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in My name, saying: 'I have dreamed, I have dreamed.'
(26) How long shall this be? Is it in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, and the prophets of the deceit of their own heart? Jeremiah 23:23-26 JPS
Actually, I just want to do God’s perfect will for my life, I pray, I seek his face, and I wait upon him to speak to me, sometimes that’s a long wait but always worthwhile.
I don’t care for people trying to tell me what God’s will is for my life, I don’t care for the estimators, instigators, and prognosticators who think they know God’s will for my life. Why? Because I never pray for someone to tell me or prophesy to me what God’s will is for my life, I do pray for them to inadvertently confirm what God has already revealed to me.
Too many times in the past those kinds of prophesies have not panned out, because so many prophesy out of their own heart or desire for another person’s life.
I have learned to seek God’s face for my own life, He has a voice which is clear and concise when he wants to reveal to me his perfect will for my life. I remember the days of my youth in Christ, when I use to go from service to service looking for a word of prophecy from the Lord by one of his people. My experience yielded me the reality that there are many self-serving people who prophesy according to the desires of their own hearts thereby contaminating the prophetic gift which may be genuine.
Therefore I learned to depend upon the providence of the God of all Creation. God has anointed my ears to hear his voice, but it is always joyful when confirmation comes too.
Don’t prophesy, preach, teach, or even encourage out of your heart, but do it out of your spirit. When God is the author of the unction, it will most definitely be a source of edification and not out of ulterior motives of the heart, but for the glorification of God. You may possess a true spiritual gift to prophesy, but if you do not guard your anointing you can contaminate that gift by allowing some carnality to leak in.
Brethren keep the faith today by striving to be used of God in such a way there can be no doubt that you are genuine, and use your gifts to advance to Kingdom of God, not what you consider to be your own agendas or goals in life. If the Spirit moves upon you to prophesy, preach, teach, or encourage, you will edify the body of Christ and never bring a reproach on God or hurt people’s lives in a devastating way.
