SURELY GOODNESS & MERCY
(10) The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 MKJV
A thief has one objective in life, that is to steal, to make gain by means of deception and stealth depending upon the preference of his method of operation. Many times a thief will seem to befriend a targeted victim to ease any suspicions so that they are free to operate without hindrance.
Then when the time is right they strike without regard to the loss of their victims, they could care less about the emotional, physical, or financial devastation they inflict upon their victims, their objective is lining their own pockets with ill gotten gain. They applaud themselves and feel good about what they’ve accomplished because they are benefited by earnest work of others. They are in essence life destroyers and home wreckers and take pleasure in the pain which they cause others. They are indeed selfish, self-centered, and narcissistic when it comes to their craft. They are most definitely like the devil in that regard.
On the contrary a shepherd is a life giver, he has the welfare of his flock in mind, there is no pretense, nothing superficial, and no deception concerning his method of operation. Who he is, is clearly defined by what he does and his love, care, and guidance is profoundly clear to the flock which he is shepherd. The thief or the hireling is just as apparent in the way he deals with a flock, it is clear that he is no more than a wolf in shepherd’s clothing coming to steal, kill, and destroy the flock of God. While the good shepherd will if necessary lay down his very life for the flock. The dichotomy between these two shepherds are clearly seem by the motives that drive them, one comes to fleece the flock, while the other comes to increase the flock.
The good shepherd takes time to truly know his flock and calls them by name, his voice is not strange or abrasive, but comforting and consoling in way which the warm of his love vibrates through every syllable which is uttered. He knows what his flock and every individual in it needs before they even ask, he is foreseeing and wise in his assessment of them and prepares for their every need. He leads them in the path of righteousness, they do not fear anything in his presence, he spreads a table before them in the very presence of those whom would harm them, he anoints them continually and their cups overflow with an abundance of joy, they know that goodness and mercy reside in the shepherd who herds them to the shelter of worship and they know they shall dwelled in the house of their Shepherd forever and ever.
Brethren keep the faith today by getting to intimately know the voice of the Good Shepherd whose very desire is to lead you in by His Holy Spirit into all Truth. The Truth that will set you free, that will restore you, that will heal you, and that will prosper you as you listen intently and contently to sweet melodious words of life and faith which are uttered by that Sweet, Sweet, Sprit of the Living God.
Shalom & Agape!
