Romans 9:10-12
KJV(i)10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
10-13 And years later, when this son Isaac was grown up and married and Rebecca his wife was about to bear him twin children, God told her that Esau, the child born first, would be a servant to Jacob, his twin brother. In the words of the Scripture, “I chose to bless Jacob but not Esau.” And God said this before the children were even born, before they had done anything either good or bad. This proves that God was doing what he had decided from the beginning; it was not because of what the children did but because of what God wanted and chose.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
10 The Israelites were descended from Isaac but not all descendents from Isaac were Israelites because some were Edomities. Rebekah had trouble bearing children as did Sarah Isaac’s mother. Isaac and Rebekah took there concerns to the Lord thru prayer and they had the answer given thru an angel.
11 Jacob was chosen by God before him and his brother Esau were born to be the one to carry on the promise and the covenant give to Abraham. Jacob was chosen to be Israel and Esau his brother was not chosen. We as believers are chosen by God to be His and then we serve Him thru our Faith which His gives us.
12 This is the word that the angel receives from God and delivered to Rebekah, it answered her prayers. Paul shows another promise that was seen answered.
