The Relevance of Psalms Today
Psalm 2 (part 3)
Reflections from Psalm 2:1-3: This world and the laws that govern this world were established by God and they alter not. They are eternal. God’s sovereign reign cannot be legislated out of this nation or our world.
Reflections from Psalm 2:4-9 last week’s study: Recorded in these verses is God’s response to the ungodly, the governmental leaders and there ungodly agendas. He is laughing at them. Our God is in complete control and His laws continue to govern this world. King Jesus is ruling from heaven through His Holy Spirit that dwells within every believer. We as believers need to understand the power and authority that is housed within us. We have been given the privilege and honor to reign with King Jesus. Let’s go in and possess the land.
“Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”
God is admonishing our presidents and other government officials to be wise. Do not adhere to the ungodly agendas of godless men. Adhering to these godless agendas removes God’s protection from our nation. Seek the Lord as Solomon did to wisely rule the people. To the judges of this nation be instructed by the word of God, which is His righteous standard and judge righteously. Our President and government officials are to serve the Lord with an overwhelming sense of admiration and with a heart of obedience. When this kind of service is rendered to the Lord, our president and government officials will “rejoice with trembling” at the sovereign power of the Almighty to protect our nation and its people.
“Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
Presidents and government officials reverence King Jesus for He sets up and takes down those in leadership. The last sentence in this Psalm reminds us that God has a remnant in our government that trust in Him and they are blessed and we are blessed by them. Father, thank you for the remnant of believers in our government that stand boldly for You and for the Christian community.
Father give each of us a greater understanding of Your Holy Spirit, the Almighty God that dwells in us and how to allow His power to flow freely through us into the world around us so that we will powerfully impacting the lives of others. Amen.
