In my opinion Windows XP was probably one of the more stable versions of Windows in a long time. Windows 7 was by far the best in a long time. I currently run Windows 8.1 and it is slow, sluggish and clumsy. If I had the option I would return to 7.

That's a great feed back as I am in the situation of where at some point have to replace our computers as ours are too old for upgrade.

Windows 8 and 8.1 are designed for tablets or touchscreen monitors and not a mouse. Although a mouse can be used it was foremost designed for touchscreen technology. If you can get a PC/Laptop with Windows 7. Failing that, get a computer and downgrade to Windows 7. It will cost you but it will be worth it.
Try Windows 8 first, who knows you may love it.

I bought two new computers this year with windows 8 and not really that happy with it; infact, if i could, I would go back to XP. I hope the remainder of this forum grabs your attention too. Thanks for breaking the ice and posting Jason.........
