Good day to all,and what a beautiful day it has turned out to be in the Atlanta,Ga.,area.Thank you Jesus!
If my friends and family were on FB they would humor me and bear with me a little in my folly,I would like to discuss the subject of anchors.According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, one of the definitions of "anchor" is,anything that is likened to an anchor that gives s...tability.To hold fast by,or as if by,an anchor.I think that is a pretty good description of my subject,so here goes!!!!
In a world seemingly gone mad,it's very comforting to know that God's word and the promises it contains from God,can hold us steadfast in the faith as if held by an anchor. In this world, when the words and promises of man can change with the drop of the proverbial hat,God's word will never change and His promises can never fail.
In the book of Hebrews 6:13-20,the Apostle Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, gives us the reassurance that: 1.) Because of Who God is,and I'm referring to His character,His promises stand steadfast and true with absolutely no deviation or shadow of turning, unlike sinful fallen mankind. The most important of all the promises He has given to us,not to lessen in any way any of the other promises,is His promise of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. This is the most important because your soul is at stake in this promise.Eternal life can not be found anywhere else except in and through faith in His Only Begotten Son.If we will but commit our ways to Him and repent of our sin and receive His Son by faith and faith alone,we will inherit eternal life at the end of this one.2.) As if God could somehow,in our finite thinking,go back on His word,He gave a second reassurance of His immutability,by taking an oath that He would keep His promise. When men take oathes, they normally swear by something greater than themselves, for example in courtrooms,we once swore an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,by placing our right hand on the Bible and raising our left hand.Unfortunately that is no longer the case, thanks to our atheistic friends.God swore an oath on His own integrity and character, because there was no one else like Him,whose word is confirmation of the oath that He will keep His promises. It seems a little redundant, but I think you see what I'm trying to convey.
God can not and will not break any of His word with anyone who will commit to Him and trust Him wholeheartedly. This is very comforting to know in a world where things change with the wind. His word is an anchor to my soul, will you not make it the anchor for yours as well.If you won't what will you do in the next life. Please think about this.......Thank you.................JW
