The Relevance of Psalms Today
Psalm 7 (part 7)
The description of David physical enemies is a very accurate depiction of the spiritual enemies we battle today.
“Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.”
Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” In this verse David gives a vivid picture of the principalities and powers spoken of in Ephesians 6. They are persistently wicked and bound by wickedness. Therefore they every thought is evil and their evil thoughts are manifested in evil actions. The deeds of these principalities and powers are listed in Romans 1:29-32 which states, “Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” My brothers and sisters be not dismayed at the wicked and their evil activities. Our Lord wants us to be knowledgeable and able to recognize the schemes and wicked actions of the enemy so that we will be continually victorious over him.
“He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.”
The evil the enemy has devised for you and me he will receive. Hallelujah!! We know that the enemy works through people. They are willing participants in his wickedness. They chose to allow the enemy to use then, therefore, they receive the fruit of his wickedness upon their lives. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) As you are reading this, I know you are picturing those unsaved wicked people the enemy has use against you, but be not deceived. We as the children of God are not exempt from this principle of sowing and reaping. The enemy can and will use us against one another, when given the opportunity. Stay prayed up, so that you will recognize when you are being influenced by the enemy to hurt a brother or a sister.
“I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.”
Now it is time to celebrate. Hallelujah! Why, because of “His righteousness.” His righteousness will not allow the enemy to prevail against us. His righteousness strengthens us for the battle. His righteousness given us guaranteed victory over the enemy each and every day. Let’s “sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.” Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! Glory to God!
