Hello to all my friends and family!I hope and pray that you find everything to your satisfaction today.May the Lord richly bless you all!
Camping will be the subject of my post for today. When I was young and in the Boy Scouts, one of the adventures we would go on was camping. We would go to the woods or campgrounds around the area and have what was referred to as jamborees.Boy Scout troops from all over the area and nation would gather together for a few days and compete for badges and awards for skills we learned throughout the year.It was quite an experience, one that I will never forget.
However, there is one type of camping trip that I never want to go on ever again.Camping in the Wilderness of Sin.Numbers 33:11 is the account of the children of Israel leaving the bondage of Egypt and the tyrrany of the Pharoah, king of Egypt, having witnessed and been a part of one of the most noteable miracles of all times, the parting of the Red Sea.
What is the point you are trying to bring us,you might ask?
Only this:The children of Israel couldn't stand being in Egypt, they were tired of the bondage they were suffering from Pharoah.Egypt is a type of sin in the Bible and the Pharoah is a type of Satan, the pharoah of sin and bondage. The children of Israel wanted to be delivered from their bondage of hard labor and toil, which is a type of what sin does to an individual in it's grip. It's toilsome and hard,it makes life miserable for all, just look around you for proof.Look what sin has done for this world that God created perfect.
Almost immediately after witnessing the drying up of the Red Sea,and escaping the Pharoah, the first thing that the children of Israel did was campout in the Wilderness of Sin.They really are no different than we are, sometimes we campout in the Wilderness of Sin as well.I think we can all agree that sin really is a wilderness.I don't think it was by coincidence that this barren, dry, dusty land called wilderness was named by accident. It is a type of how sin is in our lives. It's fruitless and barren,it offers us nothing but heartache and sorrow. And then to compound the problem,we,just like Israel, begin to complain and murmur against God and His leadership in our lives as though it's their fault!
Just like spoiled children,we get what we want, and then begin to find ways to complain about God's provision for our lives.Let us not be weary in doing well, for in due time we will reap if we do not quit. When I think of the hardships that we all go through for claiming Christ as our own,is it really worth feeling sorry for ourselves because things don't go the way we think they should. After all,we are not citizens of this world,we are illegal aliens,so to speak in this parched and dry land we call our life.We must remember that we are already dead to this world and it's system. Our lives are to be hidden in Christ and we are to let Him live His life through us.
Let us keep in mind and never forget this one thing:Sin will take you further than you want to go,keep you longer than you want to stay, and make you pay more than you can afford. When the Devil comes against you,and he will, this is certain, and he reminds you of your past, just turn to him in faith and remind him of his future. All those who live a godly life in Christ Jesus, will suffer persecution. This is a given, but we don't have to live in defeat,Jesus won the victory for us!Praise His Holy Name!It helps me to know that my Eldest Brother Jesus Christ has walked the path in this barren land and remained sinless, not for Himself, but for you and I.He will go with us all the way,but He won't campout with us in the wilderness,He will bring us through it to the other side,Amen and Amen......Thank you.......JW
