Bless the Lord oh my soul, bless His Holy name!Good morning to all,and God bless you all! As recently as this morning, very early,I might add,I was accused of being the north end of a southbound horse for taking a stand for the truth of God's word.I don't claim or wish to be viewed as a person who is full of hate for sta...nding on the side of truth, but, those who wish to continue in their pursuit of ungodliness, sometimes see those whom the Lord has called out of this dying world for His own,as being intolerent of those who hold to the view that,as long as you say you believe in the Lord,it doesn't matter what kind of life you live. God will still accept you into the Kingdom,at the end of a life of extreme wickedness. The question that must be asked in view of this line of thinking is:" Can a person who claims to be a christian really and truthfully live any type of life they choose, with the thought that as long as I believe in Jesus, without any intention of changing my sinful life, will God still accept me into heaven when I die?" I would like to respond to this.I will use as much tact and tastefulness as possible, but, when it comes to the word of the Lord we must allow it to be our rule of practice and faith. It may take one or two posts to do it justice,if the Lord will help me to do so. The first thing I would like to look at is the word or title of "christian".It could very well be that there are those who may not understand what this actually means. The title was first given to the followers of Christ at Antioch (Acts 11:26).It was meant as a derogatory title to those who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, much the same as "Bible thumper" is used today.I for one, will wear the title with respect for the price that was paid for my salvation. It cost God His Only begotten Son. "Christian" in it's simplist definition, means to be like Christ.Which begs the question:How should a christian conduct him or herself in this world?Granted, there are many in the body of Christ today, who are saved, they love the Lord supremely.Their names are written in the Book of Life. They struggle with sin in their life, they hate it,they loathe it,they want it out of their life.If you are one who experiences this, then take encouragement, you are in good company, along with many saints of old and new.The Bible is full of examples of great men and women who were engaged in the battle of sin.If we hold on to Christ by faith in what He accomplished for us at the Cross,we will be victorious in the end.If we don't stop,He won't stop! Paul the Apostle asked the question in Romans 6:1,and then follows it with the answer in verses 2 and 3."What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?" Certainly not! How shall we who have died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptised into Christ were baptised into His death?" These verses have been interpreted to mean water baptism, but, upon closer examination you will find it is not speaking of water, but of the salvation experience through faith in Christ,by His death. We as christians are to die to sin, just bas Christ died to physical death. His physical death is what broke the back of the Devil and sin. Stay tuned. To be continued tomorrow.God Bless you all.....JW
