Hi to all.Blessings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Continuing my post from yesturday........
As a Biblical Christian, that is,one who follows the innerant, innfallible, inspired Word of God,we should,we must, recognize first and foremost our own propensity, our proclivity, our potential to sin.If we do not recognize that, we are just as capable as anyone else to commit vile acts of sin, then we will find ourselves on a mote hunting expedition, rather than trying to be an influence in the lives of those we know and love who are taken captive by Satan to do his will.
There are some types of christians who are weak in the faith, due largely in part to incorrect teachings from others who may not even have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. There are some christians who have been taught that we have absolutely nothing to do with the choice of whether or not a person will be saved or lost.I think this is where much, if not all, error eminates from.If a person is taught that there is nothing that can seperate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, they are taught a truthful statement. However, this is not a blind statement. It must be qualified by another statement to this effect:"What seperates a person in the first place from fellowship with God?" Isaiah said in chapter 59:2 that iniquity and sin seperates us from God.It is no different today than it was in Isaiah's day.
Paul the Apostle in writting to Timothy in II Tim.2:19 said that," Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands sure, having this seal:" The Lord knows those that are His," and," Let everyone who names the name of Christ (calls themself a christian) depart from iniquity."I don't know about you,but that's pretty plain speech to me!
I suppose an example should be given to show what I am talking about. It was told to me just two days ago,by another individual that, they were a gay (homosexual) christian. My question to this person was,"How do you deal with the parts of the scriptures that condemn homosexuality as an abomination and excludes them from heaven?" Their response was no response at all except to say "keep wondering?!" To which a third party responded to me,to let me know that I direspected that individual and quickly added that I was the north end of a southbound horse!
Now I don't hold any grudges and I do forgive that person, but,if we are to follow the line of reasoning that they wished for me to follow, then it would have to stand to reason that,if it is to be believed, there are also christian liars, christian murderers, christian rapists, christian extortioners, christian pediphiles, christian adulterers, christian haters of God,christian drunkards, even worse, christian satan worshippers, christian atheists, christian agnostics, christian hindus, christian buddhists, christian drug pushers,etc.etc.,I think you see my point.
Can a person be a christian and be so confused in their thinking that all of these sins could be construed as something God will overlook, and accept? The answer is yes and no!A person can be saved and have any one or all of these problems evident in their life, but if they are to continue on these paths, then they need to know that they must get rid of these lifestyles in them,or eventually loose out with God.When I was born again so many years ago,I was immediately made aware by the Holy Spirit, that my lifestyle of alchohol, drugs, sexual immorality and many other things I was involved in were not acceptable lifestyles for a christian professing christianity. And this is where the rub comes in for many people who have been taught error.
If our attitude towards sin does not change from one of loving sin in all it's ugliness,to one of loving God and righteousness and hating sin, then there can only be one of two conclusions to the matter. The person is either extremely ignorant of the word of God and it's teachings against sin,or, they really do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.Paul the Apostle,in writting to the Corintian church said in I Cor.6:9-11,"Do you not know that the unrighteous will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God?Do NOT be deceived.Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterters, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.And such WERE some of you (past tense)...." We must understand that we are to live a life of holiness and righteousness through faith in the finished work of Christ, and forsake sin,or loose out with God.
Stay tuned for the continuation tomorrow......Thank you and God bless....JW
