WHAT IS RIVAL TO YOUR BIBLE?
We live in a world of competition, everything and everyone is competing for our attention. In the reality of life we are all striving for some kind of success, but success which has not been prompted by the Holy Spirit will ultimately leave us void and vain. Anything that subtracts from our devotion to God is a distraction which is in competition for God’s will and destiny for one’s life.
Bible reading is an essential not an elective to a strong persevering faith, but many times when we commit ourselves to a reading regiment the enemy of our soul engages us by sending thoughts, sudden urges, or neutralizing situations into our lives. He ( the devil ) takes joy in interrupting our reading time because once we commit the word to our mind and memory it becomes a force that vanquishes strongholds. The Emissary Paul scribed the words of the Spirit declaring “ so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God “. That verse could also be interpreted to say so then faith comes by hearing, and understanding by the word of God. Why? The word of God edifies, clarifies, and then guides us into a deeper relationship with the Lord. It builds faith, faith builds conviction, conviction builds character, character solidifies us in Christ’s will and work for our lives.
There are dark forces which conspire in the spiritual realm by plotting to distract and attack us when we commit ourselves to the task of daily reading the word of God. All the wonderful works one can do is void without the unction and inspiration of the word of God, because their foundation is not in obedience to the will of God. Brethren keep the faith today by continuing in the regiment of reading our bibles; asking God in prayer to open the eyes of our understanding that we might grow greater in the grace and knowledge of Him, that we may be better equipped to serve Him in Spirit and in Truth. Selah!
Shalom, Agape, and Amen!
