Hi to my friends and family, may God bless each one of you today in a special way!
Acts 2:1-4,39 says,"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,as the Spirit gave them utterance"......"For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off,as many as the Lord our God shall call."
As a child growing up,my parents raised me and my brothers and sisters to be "good" Lutherans.Taking us to our weekly catechism classes and to church on Sunday.I'm convinced that they believed that what they were doing was what God wanted them to do,as far as being what a christian was. However, having never heard a real Gospel message about what salvation really was,I like multitudes of people today all over the world, were or are, in a religion simply because their parents were. They've never been introduced to the Savior Jesus Christ. As a teenager I found myself getting involved in things that many teenagers today are finding themselves in.To make a long story shorter,I began to feel the convicting power of the Holy Spirit in my life to get things right with God.I went to the Pastor of the Lutheran church where my parents attended,to confess my sins and to be set free from the bondage I found myself in.Once I made my spiritual condition known to the Pastor, his response to me was,"Ahhh, your O.K. Johnny,he always called me Johnny, you'll be just fine, don't worry your a good Lutheran, your going to make it."
At that particular time in my life (16 yrs. old),I didn't know my head from a hole in the ground, but that was exactly what the devil wanted me to believe. That I was O.K. and everything was good with God,if I were to die right then and there The Lord would have welcomed me into heaven.Wrong,wrong,wrong.It wasn't untill a few years later, when the High Sheriff of Heaven, the Holy Spirit, arrested me and introduced me to the Savior Jesus Christ. You see my friends and family,it's a personal matter for each individual,we must be born again according to John 3:3,5.
I soon realized that the Lutheran Pastor that gave me the poor advise about my sinful life, didn't know Jesus as Lord and Savior any more than I did at the time.
The problem I had as a teenager,is the same problem that millions have today, they've been taught that their particular denomination or religious affiliation is good enough for your salvation, when in reality it is not.
You may be wondering what all this has to do with the context of Scriptures that I've given at the onset?Much in every way.And if you will be patient and attentive,I will share with you more of my testimony of how I came to realize that, salvation is not in a denomination or in a religion, but it is in a person, and that person is Jesus Christ.True christianity is not a religion,it is a relationship with the Living Son of God.I will continue my testimony tomorrow,so thank you,and God bless you..............I love you in Christ,JW
