Praise the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ! He has done what no one else could do,I mean no one!He bridged the un-bridgible gap of seperation between God and sinful mankind. There's only One bridge, there's only One path, and it's a narrow path, but large enough for one person at a time, the pathway is Jesus Christ!!!! Praise His name forevermore!
Continuing my post from yesturday.
As I have previously stated,I had been gloriously saved by the Lord, and my life took on new meaning. Now I knew what my purpose for being here was,it's the same reason for all in a general sense of the word.Everyone has a specific calling from God for their lives, but in general when He saves a person it is to glorify Him with their life.Anyway,as stated,I was in bondage to cigarettes,I was convicted by the Holy Spirit that this was a habit that no true christian should be in bondage to,according to what I Corinthians 3:16-17 says.
I began asking God and anyone else who could give me direction on how to overcome this addiction,I wrote to Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, and in the letter I explained my delema.Of all the people I sought for advise on how to be delivered,Jimmy Swaggart was the only person, other than the Lord, who had enough love for my soul to tell me the truth. He wrote back and gave me the above Scripture reference, which began to help me understand what I needed to do.For several months following this event,I continued fighting the habit only to continue failing.Prayer, fasting, reading the Word, talking to people, none of it was bringing me any closer to what I needed.Until I came across Matthew 6:33,"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these other things shall be added to you." Someone I had made friends with at my new job, began to encourage me to seek the Baptism in the Holy Ghost for deliverence.Let me stop here for just a moment to say that God knows exactly what He is doing, and He knows exactly who to put in your path who will be instrumental in helping to establish and ground you in the faith of Christ.I don't ever recall telling this individual just how much God used him to help me,but ,one day,the Lord willing,I will be able to thank him and he will hear from the Lord,"well done my servant, enter in to the joy of the Lord." As a side note,it was quite miraculous the way in which I met this person.Just to show you how God directs the path of those who seek Him,I would like to share this with you that your faith would be bolstered:Several months prior to getting this new job I mentioned,my wife and I were in the city of Griffin,Ga.,to have dinner and a movie,if memory serves, and we were returning to Jackson,Ga.where we lived. As we were traveling down the road My car had broken down,I couldn't seem to find out the problem,so I decided to walk the short distance to a nearby convenience store to call someone to help us.As I was walking to the store,a vehicle pulled over to the side and a gentleman asked if he could help in some way,I explained to him what I was doing and he offered to give me a lift to the store. In the process of time,he asked if I knew Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. My response was yes,and he and I talked about the Lord for a short time.I arrived at the store, made the call for help, and he was good enough to return me to my car.Well, during this time I was un-employed,and really didn't know where I was going to work next.I had a few applications in around the area, but had not heard anything back on them as of yet.One day I received a call from one of those applications from Snapper Power Equipment in McDonough,Ga.I went for the interview, and was subsequintly hired.Beginning my new job and making new friends there I became friends with a guy who reminded me of someone, but I just couldn't figure out where or how I knew him.Remember, this was a few months later after the car incident that I got this job.Having forgotten the broken down car issue months before,I was now gainfully employed, life was good.Having made friends with this guy,it was some time later when I realized who he was.I kept telling him that I had met him somewhere, but just couldn't remember where, and oddly enough,he couldn't remember either.Well, one day it dawned on me that he was the one who helped me months before on the side of the road. This is an example of how God works in our lives,to bring about good for His children, when we sometimes don't even know it's Him doing it!When I mentioned this to him,he immediately remembered the day he helped me.He told me he had been praying for me and my family all this time.I'm sure someone will chalk it up to coincidence, but not me,this was God working things out in my life to get me firmly established in my walk with Him.
Tomorrow I will attempt to conclude this testimony in my life of the fulfillment of Acts 2:1-4,39.The leading of the Lord is extremely important at this time in my story, because there are many who were just like me.They love the Lord, but live in defeat and bondage to all types of sin, wanting deliverence but do not know how to receive it.This will not be a twelve step method of any kind.It doesn't take twelve steps,it only takes one. So,until tomorrow, good day and God bless you....JW
