Good Sunday to you all! Praise God for another day to gather together in the name of the Lord and worship Him.He who is worthy of all our praise and worship.
Genesis 22:1-14 tells the familiar story of Abraham and Isaac, and their journey to Mount Moriah where the Lord God Almighty gave Abraham the test of his life (vss.1-2).God had spoken to Abraham and told him to offer up Isaac, his only son,as a burnt offering to the LORD.A perfect type or picture of the Only begotten Son of God being offered up in sacrifice to His Fatther,as the just propitiation for the sins of mankind.Propitiation is the act of one party who is innocent (Jesus) acting as advocate for the guilty (sinful mankind),thereby providing a conciliatory payment to the offended party (God Almighty),restoring the offender and the offended to fellowship. This is what the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished with His sinless life and atoning death.
This story contained in scripture,is the story of redemption through Jesus Christ.Verse 6 says,"So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son..." Another perfect type or picture of Christ having to carry His own cross to the crucifixion.Thereby fulfilling prophecy of the type of death that our Messiah would die.
What needs to be noted is the absolute obedience of the son (Isaac) to the will of his father (Abraham). This is also another type or picture of the absolute obedience of the Son of God to the will of His Father.Jesus said He came not to do His own will, but the will of His Father who sent Him (John 6:37-40).
In Genesis 22:7 Isaac asks his father where the lamb for the burnt offering was,and in verse 8 Abraham answers with "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering." This is just one more example in this saga of Abraham and Isaac of the perfect type or picture of how God would send a Lamb to die for sinners.John the Baptist, when seeing Jesus for the first time, said "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
This whole story of the love of a father for his only son is the first example, and also the perfect example of the love of God for His only Son,Jesus Christ.God loves those in the world so much that He was willing to let His Only Begotten Son become the Lamb that God would provide for Himself,in order to secure redemption for all who will believe (John 3:16-17).
If you are reading this post today, and you are backslidden and away from God,or perhaps you've never really invited Jesus Christ into your life.I'm here to let you know that first;God loves you,He really does, and second;I don't care what you've done in your life,God will forgive you and wipe away every sin, because of what Jesus did at the cross.God loves you this much, that if you will repent of sin and accept His Son as your Lord and Savior,He will cleanse you of all sin,and make you one of His own.He will give you this right to be His (John 1:12).
Won't you receive Him today. The Bible says that today is the day of salvation, now is the accepted time. You are not promised tomorrow or even the next five minutes,so please make the right decision.May God richly bless each and everyone of you....I love you all in Christ...........JW
