Praise the mighty and holy name of Jesus,He is worthy of all our praise!BlessHis name forever!
Psalm 37:12-15 says,"The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.the Lord laughs at him,for He sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow,to cast down the poor and needy,to slay those who are of upright conduct.Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken."
Here we have the promise from the Lord God Almighty that wickedness will not triumph over righteousness. It doesn't matter how many wicked men and women can join their hands together in rebellion against the God of all creation, they shall be turned out into outer darkness, and their end shall be swift. This should serve as a solemn warning to all those who think that they can overthrow the God of the universe.Verse 13 says that God laughs at such foolish notions that cause men to believe that they will somehow dethrone God.It matters not what political party you belong to,it matters not how much money you have,it matters not how popular you are in Hollywood,New York,Paris or London,or anywhere else for that matter. We are just frail human beings that appear for only a short time here on earth, and then the time of our departure will arrive. We will all come to shore of the river that divides this life from eternity.Death is the appointment of men and to date, there has only been One who has broken it's shackles, the Lord Jesus Christ. All of us will one day keep this appointment, should the Lord tarry.
The unfortunate thing about death is that we never know in which way we will leave this life.Heart attack, stroke, car accident, some debilitating desease, old age.We just don't have the priviledge of knowing for a certainty how it will come, but come it will! Sounding morbid is not my intent, but it is my intent to spark our thoughts on to eternal things. What if today, you or a loved one is faced with crossing that river into eternity? Can you say without hesitation that all is well with you and the Lord?Think not within yourself that I'm a good person,God will permit me into Heaven.First, consider who you are comparing yourself to?Are you comparing your life to what you see others living? If so,you will not make heaven your home! Are you trusting that one day you will repent, after you've lived the life of sin and wickedness all you want, and, then think in your heart, one day I'll repent and accept Christ? You may not get the chance to do so.How unfortunate it is for people to take chances with their eternal soul, when we are not gaurenteed tomorrow,or the next five minutes.
I have asked people this very question over the years,of "how could you take such foolish chances with the destiny of your eternal soul",and their responses varied, but basically they were all the same."Oh well" is the response that they all gave."If I go to hell,I'll set up a lemonade stand and sell lemonade" or "Well I'll be with my friends and we'll have a party" or worse yet "God won't send anyone to hell,He's a God of love" Those who believe that God won't send them to Hell only have half the truth. The whole truth is,is that He doesn't,we send ourselves there by refusing the one and only way of escape.
In God's eye's,what makes a person righteous or a person wicked?Only one thing. The refusal to repent and go the way God has provided for us.Jesus said "except ye repent, you shall all likewise perish" Faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for us at Calvary. If we humble ourselves and admit to God that we are sinful and deserve eternal Hell, but are willing to turn away from sin and wickedness, and ask Him for mercy for Jesus sake, then He will grant us mercy and give us grace. He will forgive every sin and transgression, and wipe the slate clean, never to remember them anymore.Refusal to agree with what God already knows about you,and what He says will make things right, constitutes wickedness.
The thing that makes a person righteous in God's eyes,is his acceptance of Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice for our sins,He will then impute Christ's righteousness to us,thereby making us righteous.
The story in Luke 16:19-31 tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Both died, but both ended up in different places. One in hell and torment, and the other in Paradise.Read the story for yourself, and ask the Lord where you stand with Him.If the answer is negative the repent and receive Christ.Don't take the chance of not knowing for sure with your eternity. This life is the only opprotunity you will get.............Thank you and God bless you............JW
