Hi to all! It's good to be back in the mix,I hope all is well with everyone today.May the blessings of the Lord be upon you all.
Psalms 32:1-2 spaeks this to our hearts today,"Blessed is he whose transgression is covered.Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit is no deceit."
Imputation is a biblical doctrine of great significance to humanity in general and to believers especially.By that I mean, mankind has no goodness or righteousness of his own, none, notta, zip, zilch. What David was speaking here about "blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity" is of supreme importance. When we go to God in humbleness of heart, and confess our sins with correct heart attitude, the Lord not only forgives and forgets, but He imputes the righteousness of Christ Jesus our Lord to us,thereby making us accepted in the Beloved.
Imputation is the act of God,whereby a trade is made between two parties. The two parties are:The offended (God) and the offender (man). All of humanity has offended God by rebellion and sin,all people sin, there has only been One who has never sinned, either by word, thought or deed. The sinless ONE,Jesus Christ,is the perfect human representative and the perfect God,all in one.To keep it simple,a trade was made that was initiated by God and not man.The trade was to be made in such a manner so as to bring about the final solution to man's problem, sin.According to I Peter 1:18-21,the Godhead-The Father,The Son and The Holy Spirit made the joint decision to redeem us from sin, even before the creation of the world. The decision was made for God to become a man, live a perfect, righteous and holy life, and become the sacrifice for sin that was required by a thrice holy God.
When a believing sinner comes to God through Jesus Christ, repents of sin and asks for forgiveness,God forgives and forgets and then imputes (trades) our sinfulness and ungodliness for the righteousness of Christ. In effect we get the best of the trade. Our sin for His righteousness.God takes our sin and gives us righteousness, and that's O.K. with God since sin has no effect on God,He simple erases it from our past and gives us new life and a fresh start. He wipes the slate clean so to speak! In the story of Abraham,it is recorded that Abraham believed God and it was imputed to him for righteousness.Abraham was a sinner just the same as us,but because he believed God's promise,it is said that he was the friend of God.What a great title for us to be given by God Himself,to be the friend of God.It doesn't get any better than this.
There are many who try their dead level best to make themselves righteous before God,and continually fail, because we can never become good enough to be declared righteous.Jesus is the standard of what righteousness is.If you think that you have obtained this kind of goodness, then the bible has lied.I choose to believe the word of God.Common sense tells me to take God at His word and allow Him to make the trade for me.How about you? Will you allow Him to make the trade for you as well? Will you let Him take your sin,all of it,it matters not what it is,the blood of Jesus can wash away any and all sin? Please do not push the Holy Spirit away,He's speaking to your heart right now about coming to Him for the trade.Accept Jesus today while there is still time, won't you?He loves you with an everlasting love.......in Christ,I love you all.....JW
