Preaching Christ Crucified...I Cor.1:18-25
From the Pastor's desk and heart...
Ephesians 6:10 -20
... The Whole Armor of God
Good day to all in the blessed name of the Lord Jesus Christ! He's alive! He's alive!
Continuing on with "praying always with all prayer..."
There are many different types of prayer, for example:
1.) Prayer of repentance
2.) Prayer of thanksgiving
3.) Prayers of praise
4.) Prayers of supplication
5.) Prayers of petitions
6.) Prayers of perseverence
There may be more but for now these will do.Some of these types of prayer are distinct in what they do.However, they may intertwine and overlap at times, during our devotional time with the Lord. This list is not meant to be a definitive list, just one to maybe help us to understand the importance of prayer.
There are many reasons why some people seem to never receive answers to any prayers. The first and foremost reason for this is that they may not be in covenant relationship with the Father God through His only begotten Son,Jesus Christ. What are you saying? Are you saying that Hindus or Buddhists or Mormons or Seventh Day Adventists or Jehovah's Witnesses do not receive answers to prayer? This is exactly what I'm saying. And for good reason.I'm not trying to be contentious about the subject at hand, but, how a person veiws Jesus Christ is the entire point to all that God has for mankind.
Since the Bible clearly and suctsinctly states that the only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6) it stands to logic and good reasoning that the only way to receive answers to prayer is to go through Jesus Christ. We know that Jesus Himself taught that the Father causes it to rain on the just and the unjust. He blesses all, saint and sinner alike, without them being in right relationship to Him,simply because God is a good God,He cannot do otherwise. In fact the Bible also states that "it's the goodness of God that leads a soul to repentance" (Romans 2:4).
The Scriptures say that "if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord wil not hear" (Psalm 66:18;John 9:31;I Peter 3:10-12).Unrepented sin in the heart of the believer as well as the unbeliever is the number one cause of unanswered prayer, and for two different reasons. The believing sinner knows the way to keep the channel of communication open (I John 1:9).The unrepentant sinner does not know this, they are continually in sin until they recognize that they need a Saviour.Pride,self-pride,the unwillingness to align themselves with what the Scriptures say about them,is the reason why so many do not receive answer to prayer. They do not realize that it is sin that seperates from God so that He cannot hear. It's not God's fault,it's man's fault. And until mankind recognizes this,he will always be seperated from God.
The prayer of true, heart felt, godly repentance for a life of sin and rebellion against God,and the confession to Him that you've broken every one of His Holy Laws,is the beginning to answered prayer. It opens the way to even greater answers.Repentance must always be the first step in keeping the channel of communion open between man and God.And this can only be done through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
To attempt to pray to God without going through Jesus Christ,is a futile attempt indeed. If a heart is truly seeking the truth,God will make sure that that person will find it,by placing people in the right places at the right times to show them the way.The Holy Spirit will always and without exception point the way to Jesus Christ. If you are pointed in any direction other than this,it is not God who is pointing,it is the enemy.Do not be fooled,it is not of God.......Tomorrow we will look at the subject of the prayer of thanksgiving......Until then be blessed in Christ....JW
