LIVE IT LIKE YOU’RE SAVED ( BE REAL )
I am a realist, I believe in the scriptures, and I also believe that life here on earth is about serving Jesus. But I also believe life is about living, because the reality is that every breaking moment none of us are living up to the plumb line of scripture in every instance of our conscience hours. We have to put our minds on the things at our jobs in order to do them, we must interact with people who do not receive the gospel but live worldly. When in our conversations with the world, just the mention of Jesus sometimes shuts down communication between us and an individual.
What I am saying is that even though God and the Gospel maybe in the back of our minds; at times, we deal with life as it comes at us. Even though we may have a wonderful prayer life, a great devotion to reading the scriptures, and witnessing to others, there are times that we must acquiesce to the situation without the mention or even a plausible thought of God, even though God is the heart of our existence and the mission of life.
Some of what I am saying may not agree with some, but it is the truth. When God created Adam and Eve, he created them to live. In other words to enjoy the fruit of their existence and then to procreate and populate the world. God gives us the same opportunity to enjoy the life he has given us. Not in the sinfulness of this present world but in the simplicity of living under his love, mercy, and grace. We can and should enjoy life here; even though it has many frustrations, many disappointments, and is not heaven by any stretch of the imagination. But life in the Spirit should be a joyful expression of living in the Kingdom of God here on earth.
So having said this, why does it seem like so many Christians are unhappy? I believe in reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness as the scriptures teach. But I also believe God gave me new life through a new birth to be an example of living in the Joy of the Lord. There is plenty of opportunity to write editorials, essays, and provocative articles, but that is only part of the commission. There are those times we can sit down to dinner and have a beautiful conversation about what we are doing, our jobs, hobbies, and favorite things in life. There are times to just be there without saying a word, and there are times to be a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen for the sake of someone’s sanity or heartache.
But too many times we come with a judgment, an accusation, and a pointing of the finger instead of a loving heart. There are those times to judge a righteous judgment and to pronounce what the word of God says accordingly. My bible tells me that faith works by love and love is the foundation of the fruit of the Spirit. But by and in large love will open many more doors. Many times when we don’t understand every point of what is going on in someone’s life, it will hinder us from prescribing the right remedy in that situation; in other words we won’t speak the right things to that person.
The word of God teaches us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath because the wrath of man does not work out the righteousness of God. When all we spew is rash rhetoric that condemns all day long every day without first showing the love of Christ and the reasoning behind our words, all that is seen and felt are harsh words of condemnation, and any conviction that could have been the result gives way to people feeling totally condemned.
None of us whom are truly trying to live for God advocate for sin, but we advocate for the righteousness of God through Christ our Lord. Even those of us whom have meted out messages to bring conviction upon sinners, get tired of hearing only the rhetoric that by and in large is a warning, badgering, or bullying of people whom don’t measure up. Even Christ said that out of good ground would come some who would bring different levels of maturity and fruit into the kingdom, he said those who heard the word out of a good and honest heart would bring some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundred fold.
Yes, we are living in prophetic times, our hearts should be pointed toward heaven, but at the same we have an earthly life to attend to which is to be an example of what living for God can accomplish . A life marked by love, by joy, and by peace through trying times. When we live life in the Spirit, we will begin to live life in the fullest. Maturing more and more as each day passes. Selah!
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
