ANOTHER WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR
I have a wonderful mother and brothers, in-laws, children and grand children I won’t be able to see this Christmas, I think of all of them often, and desire to accompany them through the holidays. My wife and I have each other during the holidays, and some friends here we communicate with, but its not like being at home for the holidays. We also have an enemy which loves to exploit us during these times to try to make us feel lonely and melancholy. Even though he does his best to make us feel lonely we remember that Christ was born to bring salvation to the world, he is the gift that truly keeps on giving.
We understand that wise men who were astronomers noticed a particular star in the constellations which was unusual, they followed that star to Judea and ultimately found the house where Mary and Joseph lived, and presented gifts to their son Jesus.
A couple of years earlier shepherds were abiding in the fields attending their flocks of sheep, when suddenly an angel appeared to them; declaring to them I bring good tidings of great joy, explaining to them the birth of Jesus and as they gazed upon an angelic host began singing praises to God and saying Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
As a Christian I celebrate the birth of Christ, there was no communion ( mass ) at his birth, there wasn’t fire works, or discount sales, or fancy lights or decorated trees, there was a manger the trough of an animal were my Savior was first laid in swaddling clothes, there were no wise men to give him gifts of wealth, only lowly shepherds and animals to witness his birth.
Heaven’s Angelic Host celebrated the birth of Christ, because it was a Spiritual thing, a wonderful manifestation; the Word becoming flesh, an awesome paradigm shift in the spiritual realm which would bring salvation to every repenting sinner, and bring defeat to a devastating foe. This is why I can never be lonely, when Jesus lives in my heart. He came as an infant, he died as a Savior, but he lives as a conquering King. He is no longer in a manger or hanging on a cross, he is alive both in heaven and in my heart and he is coming soon for those who have made themselves ready at his appearing.
We should use the opportunity when many in the world are focus upon a superficial commercialization of “ Christmas” to witness the gospel of Jesus to a lost and dying world. In conclusion, I miss my family when I am not close by to enjoy their company, but they’re always in my heart. Selah Y’all!
