Dana R. Ritchie - OUR RESURRECTION LIFE
24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
29 and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. John 5:24-30 (NKJV)
Jesus himself sets the precedent for eternal life in my opening verse; he emphatically expounds “ he who hears my word “ or the ‘logos” the Greek word for word; which compiles the thought, reason, and motive behind it; or what is termed the gospel. Then he sets the next condition of the terms of eternal life, “ and believes “ or “ pisteuo “ the Greek for the word faith; means to have faith in, to commit to, and entrust. The narrative also includes the important conjunction “ and” which in-separately hinges hearing and believing together.
Hence in order to have the promise of eternal life fulfilled at the resurrection of judgment one must not only hear the word of God, but one must also adhere to the word of God by believing in the God of the Word.
(4) but God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love wherewith he loved us,
(5) (we too being dead in offences,) has quickened us with the Christ, (ye are saved by grace,)
(6) and has raised us up together, and has made us sit down together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
(7) that he might display in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.
(8) For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God's gift:
(9) not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.
(10) For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has before prepared that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10 Darby Bible
I like the word “ quicken” in this passage in the Greek it is the word “ suzōopoieō “ its basically means to be reanimated conjointly. In other words not just to be made alive spiritually but also to be completely joined together in the process of that reanimation.
We who have received Christ are completely infused, entwined, and welded together through the process of our rebirth. Some in the realm of Christianity debate the difference between the spirit and soul saying these two are one in the same. But I believe in the tri-unity of spirit, soul, and body. Before the first Adam fell he was a complete man, with these three components integrating in unison namely spirit, soul, and body. But when he was cursed and cast out of the garden he lost his spiritual component which infused him to God, but it laid in a state of dormancy waiting for the second Adam ( Jesus Christ ) to come to reanimate it with the words of life. Hence reinstating man to his original condition with God.
Since the fall of Adam even within his first generation of curse creation religion began to establish itself as the way to God. We see this in the story of Cain & Abel. The first murder was associated with religion instead of a relationship. Religion is always about Mandates, Relationship is always about Redemption. You can usually spot a religious person who puts mandates upon others to measure up to their purity before people are accepted into their fold, they’re big on being religious, and little on redemption. A relationship with Christ is a constant redeeming process that sanctifies us day by day. Let’s talk about Cain and Abel and their different approaches to God in relation to our salvation and redemption.
The difference between the sacrifices of Abel and Cain were not only the offerings but the way they approached God. The essence of their hearts. Abel knew that he was a sinner and his offering of a lamb implied that he knew there was a penalty for sin, he sacrifices a lamb having a consciousness of sin; with realization of redemption. Abel’s homage was pure, he gave back to God what was already his, there was no boast within himself, he gave to God in worship, praise, and humility, thanking God; throwing himself at the mercy of God.
On the contrary Cain came before God with pride and haughtiness, wanting recognition for what he had accomplished. Blind to his own arrogance in the presentation of his offering begrudging giving to God what he felt was his own. Not truly cognate of sin; with an attitude of expecting God to endorse his hard labor, the work of his own hands which was the curse of God for Adams sin. Therefore by his own works he was not accepted.
A man named Nicodemus approached Jesus inquiring about the miraculous aspect of the Lord’s ministry. Jesus’ reply is recorded in John 3:3
(3) Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3 MKJV
We must be born again spiritually to discern the kingdom of God. We become new creations in Christ Jesus.
(17) So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 MKJV
Praise God! We have a new life in Christ and a new nature which is infused, entwined, and welded in conjunction to the divine nature of Christ and now sit in the heavenly realm with Christ Jesus totally sanctified position-ally; but practically being sanctified day by day. Our spiritual dormancy has been made alive through resurrection power of the resurrection of Christ Jesus. We now live in resurrection life, saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah!
Dear Friend, if you don’t know Christ as your LORD and Savior, if may be hard to comprehend what I am saying. Why because Satan has blinded you lest you be saved and see this wonderful resurrection lifestyle.
(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
(6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 KJV
Dear lost loved one, I invited you to receive light and life in Christ who is ready to shine his light in your heart now, and to give knowledge and understanding which will cause you to be changed into a new creature with a new nature, and a new life. Receive it today, don’t delay or pass of this moment. Bring your sins to the altar of repentance and believe upon the Lord Jesus, and confess your sins and forsake your sins and receive Christ into your now.
(2) (for he says, I have listened to thee in an accepted time, and I have helped thee in a day of salvation: behold, now is the well-accepted time; behold, now the day of salvation:) 2 Corinthians 6:2 Darby
Brethren keep the faith today by living everyday like it was Resurrection Day Service; remember why Christ died, and what Christ did when he resurrected. Without the Resurrection all sacrifice is in vain, when we receive Christ we receive resurrection life, new life, and a reanimated spirit to live, breathe, and have our being in Him.
