Ezra 5:6-8 King James Version (KJV)
6 The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7 They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8 Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.

6 The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king; 7 they sent a letter to him, in which was written thus: To Darius the king, all peace.8 Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.

6 This is on the other side of the Euphrates where the kingdom’s capital was in Babylon. So they wanted to hear it from the king if the word was from the king then they better not go against his word but if it was not from him they were going to stop this men from building by any means necessary. We as Christians have been given the Word by our King it is the bible are we going by it and making our decisions based on it or do we choose to live by something that leads to destruction.
7 They had to show respect while addresses the king, the whole reason for this letter to be sent was so they could keep what the king wanted, if the rebuilding was not from the king then it was not lawful and they had to punish those involved for defying the king’s command.
8 So they are informing the king of not only that they are building the temple but doing a good job at doing so, for them to not tear down the people for building by saying they are bad workers shows that the Lord’s hand was in the writing of this letter.
