WHAT’S IN A THOUGHT?
As we gather our thoughts, let them be in line with the word of God. Too many times we allow ourselves to be caught up in the madness and mania of the hour. Let us not forget that we are in a temporary situation, a short term circumstance, that this life is but a vapor upon the earth.
(4) Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
(5) Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
(6) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
(7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
(9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:4-9 KJV
A mind that dwells upon the virtues of righteousness, is a mind that is set upon things above and not distracted or devoured by the temporaries of this present life.
They say a mind is a terrible thing to waste, think just how devastating that is to a double minded person, a double minded man is unstable in all their ways. Brethren, let us not allow this life to cause us to have double focus, two agendas, or a combination of carnality and spirituality. Let our eye be single that our soul will be singular in focus. When we set the kingdom of God as the primary priority of our lives, those things which are needed to sustain us will be supplied to us. The promises of God are yea and amen in and through Christ Jesus.
When we dwell in the mindset of truth, honesty or honorable, just or equitable, pure or innocent, lovely or acceptable, good report or reputable, and causes a good rapport we are building a foundation of faith that will stand the test of turbulent times. In Hebrew the word shāʿar is derived from the root word which means a door, and is also used as the act of a gatekeeper. It is translated as the word “ think “ in English. In other words our thoughts or our thinking process is the gate keeping mechanism to our mind. We have the authority to guard our minds against the thoughts which are sometimes the fiery darts of the enemy, or the suggestive thoughts which filter in through our contact with the world, and our own thoughts which are in direct contrast to the word of God.
Therefore we are able to live in the objectivity of God’s spiritual truths, instead of the subjectivity of our own carnal imaginations. There is a lot in a thought when you understand that a thought is a seed which germinates and grows into a deed. If we discipline ourselves in the discourse of the whole counsel of God’s word, we will find ourselves established and focused upon the things which stabilize us in this temporal terrestrial realm while we await our transition and transformation into the celestial eternal life with all the chosen of God. Brethren, keep the faith today by sheer determination to self examination and the thoughts which will help your prevail or cause you to fail. Selah.
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
