DESPERATELY SEEKING SOLACE
Jesus said: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life“. (John 6:63 KJV)
When we are seeking solace in this earth below, we must not trust in our own mentality, but dine on the divine words of inspiration not earthly words of degradation.
When one sits down to eat at the restaurant of self-indulgence, they’re sure to come out more empty than before they went in. The flesh and the master chef have a menu to fit every mood and emotion which one who long for. However those platters of delectable self serving munchies which seem to fill start to steal the attributes of inner peace.
Often without request a heaping serving of discouragement is served with a portion of self-pity. Then here come the entree or the main course of insecurity, topped with the unsweetened whipped cream of inability. Come and dine the flesh does say, come and taste my morsels the devil does bid. The table is spread for all who doubt and fear. Come have your fill of that which steals.
(47) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
(48) I am that bread of life.
(49) Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
(50) This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
(51) I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:47-51 KJV
Daily consumption of a heaping helping of the bread of life will prove to sustain us when it is most needed if we lean not to our own understanding. Unfortunately we’ve all sat down to a plate of self made self destruction because we fall into the notion we are wiser than the one who created, engineered, and hard wired us. The Heavenly Father knows what we have need of even before we ask, but we allow ourselves to fall back into routines of carnal reason which exhaust and weakness us. We must not only receive truth, but exercise it daily so that is becomes a strong and stabilizing in our lives.
Come and Dine the Master bids us come and dine on the true manna which came down from heaven. His word is truth, spirit, and life. I’ve said many times during preaching “what the mind dwells upon the heart will soon follow after”. Brethren, Paul through the Holy Ghost pinned these divine morsels of solace producing manna.
(6) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
(7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
(9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:6-9 KJV
Brethren keep the faith today by allowing the life giving peace producing word of God to be active in you. Selah!
