Preaching Christ Crucified...I Cor.1:18-25
From the Pastor's desk...
Hi to all,and may the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,His Father bless you with all spiritual blessings,in Christ.
James 3:1-12 speaks about the unruly member of the body called the tongue, and how nearly impossible it is to tame it.I for one must agree with it's indictment against me.If we are honest with ourselves everyone of us are guilty at sometime or another with letting our mouth overload our rear.
For an individual who makes no claim to knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, their mouths can be an open septic tank. And for others who do make the claim, usually fair no better.I have found myself speaking and talking at times things I should have never said, only to have to turn around and eat the very words I've spoken, and then to go and repent of them and ask the one offended and God for forgiveness.
What many people never realize, and many, like me often forget,is that for every word we speak,we will give an account for it (Matt.12:33-37).The above reference in James says that no man can tame the tongue, and I will agree with this. However, there is ONE who can give us the power to control the tongue and use it in a way that will lift our fellow man up and bring glory to the ONE who created it,Jesus Christ.I often bristle at people who make a confession of faith in Jesus as their savior, yet hear them using the name of the Lord as curse word.If you are one who believes in Jesus, but uses the name of our God as a common curse word, then shame on you,you should repent. But then I become convicted in my heart by the Holy Spirit for saying things I shouldn't,even though they are not curse words. So basically we are in the same boat.
The tongue can be tamed by the inner working of the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus Christ. This is the only way it will be conquered.Self-will,positive thinking,PMA,will all fail you eventually. The only way to victory over a loose tongue is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Some people use facebook as a dumping ground for all sorts of filth and vileness. They seem to have no problem using facebook as a place to tell the whole world their most private problems.I do not understand this concept or thinking.Cyber-tongue is what we can call it.Whether you speak it or print it,it's still the same. The tongue and one word spoken wrongly, can set an entire forest on fire.
If anyone does not stumble in word, the same is a perfect man (vs.2).....God bless you all.....and have a great day......JW
