Acts 8:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
8 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
Acts 8:1-3 World English Bible (WEB)
8 Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles. 2 Devout men buried Stephen, and lamented greatly over him. 3 But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 You think the apostles would have been the first to scatter but they were the last because they were still being used there by the Lord. As they scattered they would take the gospel with them. It calls it a great persecution they had to leave because they were being killed for simply being Christian.
2 They mourned over Stephen who was the second to die for the faith of course the first was Jesus Himself.
3 Saul had the intention of ending the church and doing away with it.
