I thought I might put forth the agenda that I use with my kids. When I say "my kids", it's not a biological my but a church group or two. I actually have two groups at our church that I lead. One is Sunday school and that is grades 5-8. The other is one we call Kids Club. We do have a great deal of fun at Kids Club. There is a games time and a lesson time and prayer time. At the end of the season, we also have what we call a soap box rally. The are not full size soap boxes but are models that we race down a track that begins at about five feet off the floor and races to almost ground level. One of our parents is a policeman and he brought his radar gun to a race one time. These cars race down the track, propelled only by gravity, at up to 35 miles per hour. Pretty neat stuff.
So, Sunday school right now - We are learning about the Resurrection and that, as far as I know, is THE most important event in the history of the world. Soon, we will be discussing the formation of the church and learning about the books in the New Testament.
Kids Club right now - we are learning about what happened when Moses led His people away from Egyptian slavery to a land where they could be free. This is also one of the major events of history.
I will try to leave an update whenever I can.

Thought we were going down the road like father Abraham that had many son's lol
That sounds really great gator. Sounds like you cover some very good topics with them and also find some very creative games that finishes the time together off. May be some of the youngsters will soon join the youth zone and share some of the things that they have learn't in their groups!

I hope it will happen soon Les. Unfortunately ProBoards policy is for people 13 and up only to participate. My gang are usually younger than that. I have left our address with our pastor though and he seemed to be in favor. Maybe he can spread the word a bit as well.
Cheers

Here's an interesting question. First a bit of history. Last Sunday, we had a visitor in my Sunday school class. She was traveling with her grandparents in our area. They were from Montana and were determined to come to a Sunday service no matter where they were. I don't think that she was well acquainted with Jesus. Maybe Mom and Dad didn't go to church but the grandparents sure did. Anyway, near the end of the lesson, she asked me in all seriousness "That sure sounds tough. Why can't we just make a god who isn't that strict?"
I wish I would have had more time to address the issue with the young lady but it was right at the end of class time so we had to end.
So. Anyone have any thoughts on the question?

That would be like saying I would like to make myself new parents, ones who were fun and let me do whatever I wanted to do.
I would say our parents created us, we came from them, we are a part of them. Without them, we wouldn't exist. You can't create parents, they created you. Same with God. He created us in His image. Without Him, we wouldn't exist. A god created by us wouldn't be God, he'd be just a make believe false idol with no power, like a cartoon superhero who doesn't really exist.
I would also say good and loving parents have a responsibility to teach their children right from wrong, what is safe and what will harm them. Rules and corrections for breaking rules may not be fun, but they are important. Without them, children are in danger because they don't have the wisdom to make the right choices. Your ball may have gone out into the street, a child with no guidance may run across the street to get the ball not having the experience and wisdom to know they risk getting hit by a car.
Because our parents love us, it is more important for them to be a protector and guide than a fun friend. Our lives depend on it. God, being Creator and Father of all, has given us rules that may stop us from doing some things we want, but He knows things even the wisest grown-ups don't. We all need to trust Him. He loves all His children, both young and old.

Great question and I believe foxy hit the nail on the head of a great understanding there!

Well said Foxy. And children who have parents who will let them do anything they want are usually the ones who end up in trouble with the law or in deep financial problems as well. Discipline is a necessary tool in raising children.

Well, it's been a while since I last posted on my kids. We have one more lesson to complete a three year course. With the last Sunday in May, we will be watching a Genesis Week video titled God's Little Creation, which is Ian Juby's young earth creation presentation for kids. The kids love it. I also have his 11 DVD set on creation for big people too. Of course, it goes into much more detail. In September, we begin again with Gen 1:1 "In the beginning, God created..." But, you know, when people are presented with a viable alternative to evilution, their views usually change and for the better. I believe this is why the evilutionists are trying so desperately to destroy any alternative theories. In effect, they are trying to kill God. I wonder how that is working for them. Cheers gator

LOL well I would imagine they stand a better chance playing football in gale force wind and scoring perhaps one goal! It's always a great blessing hearing how God is moving in your church and will continue to keep you all in prayer as these vital teachings reach out!

My how time flies.
You know that old saying - Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Vacation Bible School starts tomorrow. This year's theme is Cave Quest.
I spent most of last evening at a friend's shop. We cut up a bunch of scrap plywood that he had and made some strips of plywood so that the kids can pound nails into them in a pattern and then use that for string art. I'm not sure how this will unfold, but given the fact that we have some very talented ladies and gentlemen running the camp, I'm pretty sure it will be impressive.
Anyway, it's time to get ready for church on another beautiful sunny day in sunny Alberta.
Cheers

I'm not sure just what will happen with the plywood Les. I have a rough idea but I will have to ask my daughter who is there for the week to send me some pics of that is going on. I do know one thing. On Saturday, they set up the non-sanctuary areas in the church building for this Cave Quest motif and it does look pretty impressive.
I'm glad that your weather is treating you kindly. We had a hail storm yesterday and a few of the hail stones were the size of golf balls. I haven't seen golf ball size hail for decades. Thank God it was short lived and there appears to be no damage at our place. Some of the local farmers may not have been so lucky.
Cheers

My how time flies [ still ]. We are now in week 3 of the new season. Actually it's the beginning of the old old season as we are starting over on the schedule - you know Year 1 Quarter 1 Lesson 1. We've done 3 lessons now and the first bit is WHY we should trust the Bible and HOW we exegete or eisigete the Bible - and yes we are using those big words with the Grade 5-8 kids. Better yet, they are remembering them and what they mean. And yesterday one of the young ladies, who is in Grade 6, brought up the issue of the Paluxi River footprints. I didn't. Honest! So we had a look on Google Earth to see where they were and had a good healthy discussion on why dinosaurs can't possibly be as old as they are purported to be. We even got into Dr. Mary Sweitzer [ sp? ] and her finding soft tissue in a dinosaur bone sample. We do have a lot of fun in my Sunday school class and it does seem to be profitable as well. Anyway, that is what is happening in gatorville these days. Cheers gator

Cheers gator Always great to hear how things are going for you brother and you are very much remembered in prayer there! Great teachings coming through and always an opportunity to encourage people to explore the truth of our living God and of course, to hopefully, persuade many to accept Jesus as there personal Saviour! Keep up the good work......
