PERKS OR NO PERKS: A SOBER LOOK
Those that serve God for earthly perks, are usually the first to be gone when the perks do not manifest to their satisfaction. Anybody ever heard the scripture “ Not my will, but thy will be done”.
It still applies as the main theme of serving God, we are saved to serve Him, not for Him to serve us. If you are all about the perks, watch out for the winds and wave...s that can carry them away and leave you standing by yourself. Eternal life is the greatest perk of serving God.
“ Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and these things will be added unto you.” is the way the scripture goes, but many today seek first these things to be added thinking the kingdom will be added later. Let us first be infatuated with our God in that we worship Him and adore Him, Honor Him and Praise Him. Look for what is in God’s Heart and let Him decide what He will release from His Hand.
If its not His will, one can quote scriptures and promises all they want to; but to no avail. God’s general will is not always his perfect will. Example: Its not God’s will that any should perish; but all should come to repentance! The scriptures states this emphatically, but the reality is that just because this is God’s will, does not mean it will happen. Why? Because many perish in their sins every day. There is difference between God’s general will and God’s perfect will.
This is why when we pray about the promises, we must pray about the perfect will of God, then when we know for assuredly that we are in God’s perfect will, then we can stand having done all to stand in the power of his might upon those promises which are afforded and issued to us.
Why do I bring this subject up? Because many Christians have prayed to God, and stood on scriptures and have seen things get worse, and have not had their prayers answered. When this happens they turn from God in bitterness, resentment, and anger and begin to berate Him, they lose faith and walk away scorning Him and try to turn others against Him. Declaring a Good God would not allow so much injustice and evil to happen. I’ve seen this personally. This is primarily done because some want God to endorse their agenda or grant their desires.
If we truly trust Him, then we should allow him to decide what our lives should entail, never laying blame on Him when things don’t go our way, when we are suppose to be walking in His perfect will. I have found when I don’t understand what is going on, He has a plan, I have found when it seems like my prayers are hitting a brass ceiling, He is hearing them, I have found when something I know is His perfect will for my is not manifesting, He has a time already set based upon my obedience. I have found I will never ever take God by surprise. Why? Because He is God and I am not..!
Now that I’ve said all that, let me also say this. There are wonderful perks which are for our present life, God has many blessings which He wants to bestow upon all His children. We have within the scriptures of God; salvation, healing, deliverance, prosperity, promotion, and advancement. We become all that he has intended for our lives as we follow him and apply the principles, precepts, and protocols of the scriptures to our lives as He leads and guides us into all truth which is part and parcel of his perfect will.
God has given me scriptures to stand on, a word to possess as my own, and I have seen the fruit of my trust in Him. When he is the author of the unction, you will find at the appointed time it will function to your fruition. Because Jesus is the author and the finisher of my faith, he is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of the things unseen which become seen. Our God is able to make us abound in all things, and give us triumph in the battles of life as we listen attentively to Him in all things. When we petition, when we intercede, when we pray, we should be still long enough to listen for his response.
Brethren keep the faith today by desiring a more intimate relationship with our loving Father, seeking to be a part of his heart, loving him, lauding him, giving thanks in all things and allowing his peace to indwell you totally. Then the faith will bring about a more sensitive hearing ear to the specific plans, purposes, and promises God will unveil and reveal to you. Then you will know in your knower that you are standing on the firmest foundation in all of creation. Amen
