Numbers 21:8-9 King James Version (KJV)
8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
Numbers 21:8-9 International Standard Version (ISV)
8 Then the LORD instructed Moses, “Make a poisonous serpent out of brass and fasten it to a pole. Anyone who has been bitten and who looks at it will live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and fastened it to a pole. If a person who had been bitten by a poisonous serpent looked to the serpent, he lived.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
8 God sent these snakes due to them not being grateful for what He had done. Now God was providing a way for them to survive which would require them to show faith, He could have simply made the snakes go away or have them move on but He wanted them to show faith, sometimes He works in similar ways to us as we complain.
9 When we look to the cross and accept Jesus as Lord we live.
