Numbers 21:13-15 King James Version (KJV)
13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
15 And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.
Numbers 21:13-15 International Standard Version (ISV)
13 Then they traveled to the other side of Arnon and camped in the wilderness that borders the territory of the Amorites. (Arnon borders Moab between Moab and the Amorites, 14 which is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD reads, “Waheb and Suphah and the wadis of the Arnon, 15 and the slope of the valleys, that extends to the dwelling places of Ar and the borders of Moab.”)

13 So they traveled to the area that was on the border of Amorites and Moabites, this would have been close to the land of Cannan but they had to pass through to get there, often times where God wants us isn’t far away but are we always willing to do what we need to so we can get there.
14 The book of wars is not in scripture it is most likely just a recoding of the battles of the Israelites, while it shows God hand moving it was meant to record wars while scripture records wars but focuses on God’s work.
15 So this describes where they were at. There is a valley and water this would be a nice place for them to settle but wasn’t where God wanted them to be, they would have been settling often times we want to settle instead of going thru with where God wants us, we need to go that extra mile He leads us to.
