Numbers 22:37-38 King James Version (KJV)
37 And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?
38 And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.
Numbers 22:37-38 International Standard Version (ISV)
37 Balak asked Balaam, “Didn’t I repeatedly send for you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? I can pay you well, can’t I?”
38 Balaam answered Balak, “Well, I’m here now. I’ve come to you, but I can’t just say anything, can I? I’ll speak only what God puts in my mouth to say.”

37 Balaam wanted to come and gain the money and serve Balak but God prevented him from doing this. Sometimes God will prevent us from doing certain things in our life.
38 Balaam saw him only speaking what the Lord put in his mouth as a problem but it was truly a blessing but in times our motives aren’t pure blessings don’t seem to what we want.
