FEAR A FORMIDABLE FOE
Fear the spirit that overwhelms us when we’re not walking by Faith!
A phobia that consumes our soberness, sternness, and strength!
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2nd Timothy 1:7)
Fear takes us back into bondage; but we’ve been infused with dunamis (power) agape (love) and sōphronismos (sound mind)
Brethren if you are fearful you cannot be faithful! There’s a battle going on within many Christians today: the insatiable appetite of the flesh and the love for things of God. We will be what we consume! If we devour the Word of God and soak it in prayer; the appetite for the fleshly things of this life will lose their significance. Fear inhabits the world of carnality and lies in wait for those who quench the Holy Spirit through ceasing to devote their utmost time in his presence through praise, (worship) prayer (dialogue, petition, and supplication) then waiting (silently and observantly). The next thing is reading the Word of God (absorbingly through meditation).
Worship is more than going through the motions; it involves the spirit, soul, and even the body. It is yielding our whole being to his presence and allowing our hearts to hear while giving our heart’s full attention to God. Fear is a force that draws our attention away from our relationship with God. A phobia focuses our thoughts to the possibilities of failure; phobias are pessimistic; whereas faith is optimistic conviction based upon the person and ability of Jesus Christ.
Faith is the optimal weapon against fear; because faith is enforced through perfect love; God is perfect love and wants to fill every vacuum of the spirit and soul. When we love God yielding our all to him; fear doesn’t have a chance to overwhelm or confuse or divert us. Fight your fear with the shield of faith which has been forged in the blood of his love. Selah
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
