For Grace or For Guile:
(1) A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
(2) Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Psalm 32:1-2
Brethren I have forgiven many for past offenses and cannot hold it as a life sentence against. Christians are supposed to forgive and begin again. When we were saved God justified us: it was just as we had never sinned; this is the essence of true forgiveness; not want to exact revenge or to see vindication once we’ve forgiven someone. It is true we do not receive the same many times in return; but that does not excuse us from being Christ-like in our forgiveness of those who have hurt us.
God is love all the time, every time, every day, but it is a love that demands holiness!
Today there are way too many Christians who are full of guile, I believe they’re blind to it and feel I should pray that their eyes are open to this reality in their lives and if there be any in mine I pray God reveal it to me and we are all set free to walk in true holiness.
Guile: deceitful, cunning, dubious.
Guileless: innocent, naïve, straightforward.
To be without guile is to be without guilt and to be covered by Grace. Where there is no guile there is serenity in purity before God. Innocence is a virtuous commodity which affords us an abundance of empowering grace. Guile only causes us to descend into the abyss of carnality resulting in doublemindedness. Often it justifies subtle deceptions leaning more technicalities than biblical moralities. Hence; something may be technically true, but morally wrong.
(25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (1) Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 1st Peter 1:25-2nd Peter 2:1
One cannot be guileful without the treachery of fleshy attributes like malic, hypocrisy, envy, strife, evil speech, etc. etc.
Guile is definitely a parent sin that gives birth to more than one hidden thing. Why? Guile is deception; deception is a lie; lies give birth to more deception and lies and other things that work together to cover other realities that the guileful person doesn’t want revealed. God is not guileful neither was Christ the Son of God; Christ was crucified because he was abundantly guileless. The Son of God came not to deceive but to bring truth unabated and to lay his own guiltless and sinless life down for the guilt and sin of whosoever would receive him.
The life of the believer is a lifelong process of sanctification through the Word and the Spirit of the Everlasting Father.
(17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17
Sanctification comes through the renewing of the mind; a mind that is brand new but being made continually new through the power of the only truth that gives birth; the word of God. For it was by the preaching of the gospel we gave up the ghost of the old man in order to receive the new man. We can then derive that sanctification is:
GIVEN FREELY
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5
FAITHFULLY SOUGHT
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
Brethren let us do those things which edify not defy God and the godly. Let our language and demeanor shine the light of God and our Christ. Our Christian social discourse is based upon honesty, purity, and kindness; not the chicanery of guile. These two verse speak to this issue.
(9) Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. Romans 12:9
(16) Let not then your good be evil spoken of: Romans 14:16
Brethren even when we do good let us do it wisely in a fashion that denotes the heart and character of Christ our Savior. May God bring the blessing of this truth to transform you by the renewing of your mind perfecting holiness in the fear of God!
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
