HABITATION OF THE MOST HIGH
I surmise from the study of scripture that our Heavenly Father wants a sanctified habitation in the center of our being. He desires to sit upon the throne of our heart. Surrender is the key to our subjection and our serenity.
(20) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Brethren we have been judicially justified, personally rejuvenated, and outwardly codified by the crucifixion of Christ and the reality that we are crucified with him. The Christian life is paradoxical; we are dead to the world yet alive in Christ. Personal piety is a personal responsibility to live by the faith of the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us. Love is the unifier which binds our hearts and directs our paths. John told his disciples concerning Jesus “I must decrease He must increase”. I see within this statement a principle for successful spirituality; I must crucify the flesh daily. When I pursue the destruction of the flesh I am inviting the presence of God. I become a willing habitation of the Spirit of God.
(14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
(15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
(16) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
(17) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
(18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
(19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
(20) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
(21) Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:13-21
Brethren; do you ever ask yourself; how much of a habitation am I for the Spirit of God? We can see the benefits of his habitation in the above passage. We are given the true riches of glory not the tangibles of temporary vanities.
Those riches include the velocity of increasing empowerment and the supernatural work of the Spirit in the inner man! We inherit the residency of Christ’s habitation in us through faith; then a stabilizing that erects a moment of his express love. We then are positioned to receive previously incomprehensible revelation concerning his person; to the extent that we are filled with the completing attributes of God. We then find ourselves in a position of powerful prayer with effectual energetic fervency that emanates from the Spirit which is working in and through us. If God is in us He can pray and work through us to the benefit our witness, his wisdom, and our willingness.
We cannot be the habitation of God if we do not put off the old man with his deeds.
(23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
(24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:23-24
Paul told us we cannot be conformed to this world; we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds which enables us to be prove and perfect what the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God is pertaining to our walk and his habitation. The truth sanctifies us as we apply it to our daily lives. The old adage “practice makes perfect” can certainly be apply here. We learn inherently from the Spirit have to abstain the very appearance of evil and to adhere to that which is godly. Herein; we become a dwelling place for the residency of the Holy Spirit. The word then births righteousness and true holiness in the new creation which is begotten after the image and likeness of Christ.
We are in fact and substantial spiritual reality renewed in the spirit of the new mind. It is not psychological; that would make it a produce of carnality and thus a superficial change concerning opinions or points of doctrine and practice. Now as a new creature it is the spirit of the mind which bends to the wavelength and frequency of the Holy Spirit in thought and practice. We possess the power of the Spirit to generate and produce radical change in the inner man.
O that the hearts of men would long after the habitation of the Lord! O that we would seek his face with all our body, mind, soul, and strength. O that the meditation of our hearts would be acceptable and the words of our mouth would be worshipful!
(1) O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
(2) Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
(3) Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
(4) Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.
(5) Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; Psalm 105:1-5
The Lord inhabits the praises of his people. “This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it”. When we become a habitation our lives will glow with the joy of the Lord; our lives will testify of his wondrous works! Brethren; I ask you again, are you the habitation of God? Are you sold out to him in all your ways? I pray that this discourse has provoked you to draw close to God so that he can grow close to you! Selah
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
