Preachers
(24) Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
(25) Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
(26) In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
(27) In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. 2 Corinthians 11:24-27 KJV
My peers of proclamation can we honestly say we have problems compared to those who’ve gone before me. Many have forsaken their callings over anxieties and stress and even subjectivity. Many have never strived against sin to the point of bloodshed.
(1) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
(2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
(3) For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
(4) Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Hebrews 12:1-4 KJV
Name calling may hurt our feelings but stones, guns, machetes, and fists are much more damaging to the morale. Once we realize that the world hated Jesus and also hates those who follow him in Spirit and Truth the better our lives will be concerning the proclamation of the gospel. Yet today many in the body want to imitate the world through different venues and media. We are called to be different and separated from the world. God hasn’t called us to a popularity contest; but to preach the gospel to whomever he sends us. Myself I have tried different means of reaching people and honestly I let down the standard of holiness instructed by the word to do it at times. I have since repented of those carnal attempts and have gotten back to the word of God which is anointed to touch the most evil heart when God is sending us to preach.
This world is becoming more and more violent against Christ and Christianity and things are in motion for the end time scenario. We cannot afford to be easily offended by word or discouraged at the thought of rejection or the threat of bodily harm. God is with us and our greatest reward is not here but in heaven. Amen
