In order to know and understand Salvation one requires a knowledge of The Jesus of Scripture. This in turn necessates an understanding, and acceptance, of the Bible’s message. Because God has given us His Spirit, we are not required to be a priest, or a scholar, to have a sound understanding of His Word to us in Scripture. This in turn leads to a new outlook on life for you and I, together with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Paul explains the importance of The Bible’s message this way: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16) When I came to this incredible truth I understood that our Heavenly Father has revealed both Himself, and His Son, in the Scriptures, of which He has given to you and I as a handbook on how to live the Christian life.
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11)
When becoming a Christian, I developed a great love for The Bible, from whence came the true understanding of Jesus as my Redeemer. Scripture became, as Psalm 119:103 states: "sweeter than honey." The Holy Spirit become my guide and teacher as I read and learned of my God and Savior. Shades fell from my spiritual eyes as God's truth enlightened my understanding of the Jesus of Scripture. As my knowledge of God's declared truth grew, I developed an aversion for every spiritual wrong path, knowing that false teachers were leading their followers away from the one True God and His gift of Salvation through Jesus’s Atonement at Calvary.
Psalm 119:105 states: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." This has become one of my guiding verses. Following the light of God's revealed Truth will guide each one in their daily walk with Jesus - our Savior and Lord.
Today, let us thank The Lord for the revelation of Scripture.
