Preaching Christ Crucified
From the Pastor's desk....
"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth" (Psalm 34:1) Good morning to all in the blessed name of Jesus!
...
As a parent and a grandparent,I'm sure you will all be able to relate to what I am about to say.Which one of us,as a loving parent or grandparent, would sit back and allow one of our children to be attacked by a pack of ravening wolves? Which one of us would not, even at the expense of possibly being injured or mauled, defend our children,in order to keep them safe? None,I hope.Stick with me,I'm going somewhere with this!
How many of us,at the least expected time, received a knock on the door, only to open the door to find wolves there? How many of us,at one time or another have been pumping gas into our vehicles or walking across a parking lot to enter the grocery store, only to be accosted by by a pair of ravening wolves? I 'm sure many,if not all, have experienced this phenomena.
I'm sure by now you've figured out what I'm referring to.Yes to confirm your suspicions,I'm referring to the Jehovah's Witnesses.A group of well intentioned and very sincere individuals, who, for all intents and purposes, believe they are spreading the good news of the Kingdom. But is this true? Are they really spreading the good news of Jesus Christ or are they spreading poison to unsuspecting individuals,in an attempt to increase their numbers at the Kingdom Hall? From time to time,it becomes necessary to fight of the wolves in order to protect the flock,I believe this is exactly what Jesus did and expects us to do as well.I do not wish to condemn anyone for their lack of biblical understanding, but there are it seems within the body of Christ,a growing number of true believers, who really don't know how to defend themselves or their families against an attack of these wolves in sheep's clothing.
My intent for the next several posts,is to show God's children the true nature of the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society (J.W.'s).I will not try to pit this Scripture against that Scripture to try and prove my point, but rather,I will show from the Watchtower publications,an historical account of the beginning of this "cult" from their own writings rather than just saying they said it,without proof.I will use references to these publications. After all,if you want to know what they believe, don't ask a J.W.,go to their source of information, which by the way is not the Bible, but the interpretations of the "Governing Body" in Brooklyn,N.Y.
What all Christians need to know, and I pray that after examining the history of the Watchtower, you would agree,is that God's children need to know what they believe and why they believe it.In the day and time that we are living in,it is becoming increasingly more important to know the word of God for yourselves, for there is a strong spirit of deception that is and has crept into the Church of the Living God.It takes time and a lot of hard work researching the Scriptures, and I think that this is the main reason more Christians do not study their Bibles more often. But,just as medicine is sometimes hard to swallow,a good working knowledge of the Word of God will do us all good.
The authority of the Watchtower and it's power over their membership is,to say the least, deadly. Therefore, the foundational teachings of the first president,Charles Taze Russell will be the subject of our first investigation. We will show from his own writings what he believed and expected his followers to believe.
I will give credit where credit is due.The bulk of research material that I use will be from the book "The Watchtower Files" by Duane Magnani and Arthur Barrett published in 1975,and is still available through Witness Inc.,P.O.Box 597 Clayton,Cali.94517 or on-line @ witnessinc.com.Duane is the former member of the Watchtower, who after eighteen years as a Witness, came to know the redeeming love of the Savior Jesus Christ. He shows through numerous Watchtower and Awake magazines, and from other books published by the Watchtower, that if you want to know what a person or organization believes,it's best to go to the source, their own writings.....Stay tuned to this page for an exciting and informative trip into the realm of the Kingdom of the Cults.....God bless you all.....J.W.
