Glorify God & the Flesh be Cursed
Paul said there are things that should not be named among Christians as are not becoming of the saints of God. I want to zero in on two particular works of the flesh that are all too common in our church services today; a pretty thorough description of the works of the flesh are named in the fifth chapter of Galatians. Let's read verse 20.
(20) Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Galatians 5:20 KJV
Wow! Unfortunately, there are works of the flesh promptly displayed in many church services in our times. I have recently been a spectator of emulations and seditions as I watched a takeover spirit rebel with pride and arrogance. It hurt my heart seeing the blatant disrespect toward authority and conducting an agenda which was out of line with what the Spirit actually directed. Emulation: in the Greek is zēlos dzay'-los
From G2204; properly heat, that is, (figuratively) “zeal” (in a favorable sense, ardor; in an unfavorable one, jealousy, as of a husband [figuratively of God], or an enemy, malice): - emulation, envy (-ing), fervent mind, indignation, jealousy, zeal.
In other words it is zeal in a negative dynamic which genders jealousy and malice. This my brethren should not be a part of any church service; a church service is about a true move of God not about competition; to show who is the most anointed in the house. Brethren, without God and his Holy Anointing we are nothing period.
The other work of flesh which was on blatant display was sedition. Sedition in the Greek is: dichostasia (dee-khos-tas-ee'-ah) From a derivative of G1364 and G4714; disunion, that is, (figuratively) dissension: - division, sedition.
Sedition when someone purposely enacts their own force to overthrow by causing division through bringing disunity into the atmosphere. They intend it to be covert but ends up be exposed by the Spirit to those who are discerning.
Paul through the unction of the Holy Spirit was exposing works of the flesh which were working in the church so that they could be recognized when they were implemented in the course of our gathering ourselves together. He gave a format in Corinthians concerning orderliness and godliness in the church service so there would be no room for confusion, envy, and strife.
When we come to church with our own agenda we’re already on a course of destruction and being used by the enemy to take away from God the glory that belongs only to him. Many feign spiritual gifts and implement fleshly manipulation into a church service which is emulation and sedition. The seasoned minister or pastor should recognize it immediately and deal with it promptly before it destroys the work of God they’re call to do. The Spirit showed us what are his attributes and we should be able to recognize them in those who say they are leaders or have the gifts of the Spirit.
(22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
(23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
(24) And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
(25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(26) Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:22-26 KJV
Brethren let us keep the faith today by truly walking in the Spirit and the light of the gospel which brings us to a place of humility not haughtiness. God will bless the humble and obedient children and bring to naught those who walk in the flesh disobeying him at every turn! Selah
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
