From the Pastor's desk...
Good morning and God bless you all!
As stated from yesterdays post,we will begin our descent into the realm of the "cults",and one in particular,The Watchtower and Bible Tract Society.
First,I would like to say and then remind everyone that I do not have an ax to grind against any person in the Watchtower Organization, but as with any person(s) or organization(s),if you want to know what is believed and taught,it's best to go to the source for your information. This will be the focus of this expose' on the Watchtower.
Second,Jesus taught through analogy, that a house built is only as durable as the foundation it is built upon, the thought is,"The firmer the foundation the better the house.Bringing this thought into perspective, our spiritual house can be no stronger than the foundation on which we build it (Matt.7:24-26;Luke 6:48-49).
I will try to be as brief as possible without deleting any important information.
First ,a little history. The Watchtower and Bible Tract Society,a.k.a.,Jehovah's Witnesses was founded by Charles Taze Russell in 1881,and up until the 1920's or early 1930's,they were known as both the Watchtower and The People's Pulpit Association. They dropped the second name from the Organization after several failed prophecies of Mr.Russell's did not come to pass. The Watchtower has done their best,in an attempt to cover up and destroy all possible evidence that marks them as truly a false prophet type of an Organization.
Let's examine some very important beliefs that Mr.Russell believed and taught as to this alleged "True Organization of Jehovah on Earth".
Mr.Russell believed and taught that he was the true voice of Jehovah on earth and that he alone spoke the words of Jehovah, for his generation.
First, did Mr.Russell recognize a group of men in Brooklyn,N.Y. as the "governing body" of the Organization? The Witnesses are taught that they must recognize that God has established a small group of men as the "governing body" over the Jehovah's Witnesses (The Watchtower,Dec.15,1972,p.755,second paragraph, sentence 6.)
The question now is,did Mr.Russell recognize this group of men?The facts show that he did not! Quote:"Discussing this question of 'that servant' himself in the Watchtower of April 15,1904,Mr.Russell said:'...the Lord at the time indicated would specially use ONE Member of his church as the CHANNEL or INSTRUMENT through which he would send the appropriate messages" (The Watchtower march 1,1923,p.68) end quote. It is apparent that Mr.Russell from his teachings, knew nothing of the small group of men called the "governing body" during his life time. The facts show that,Mr.Russell,as Watchtower president was in total control,by himself, of the Organization while he was alive.Tomorrow we will examine if the J.W.'s are considered Mr.Russell's followers.Stay tuned to this page.thank you and God bless you all...bro.John.
