From the pastor's desk...
Good morning to all in the name above all names,Jesus Christ,King of kings and Lord of lords,Amen!
We will conclude our study of the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society,a.k.a. Jehovah's Witnesses, with their last prediction for Armageddon and the beginning of the 1,000 yr.reign of Christ.
I would first like to say that, although the false prophecies and doctrine of the WT is an interesting study to say the least,it is not necessary that I list all of those here on this wall.In reality,it is only necessary to show one failed prophecy of any person/group that claims to be a prophet and speak for God.The problem with the WT,as with any false organization,is pride.Once a person/group goes on record as stating to be a prophet for God,they open themselves up to the highest scrutiny possible. Why? The reason is obvious. They claim to be a direct link to God,and therefore, speak for God.I mean who wouldn't rather just have a direct line to God,than to have to go through the biblical directives of seeking God through study, prayer, and fasting when necessary?
The prophets of the O.T.,were not prophets because they said they were prophets, they were such by a direct commission from the Lord, and most,if not all, did not want the task, because they knew the possibility of being killed was very high.
The WT Organization seems rather willing to take the title of prophet to themselves, for reasons known only to them. The latest date set by the WT,to which I am aware, was set for early autumn in 1975.In their book titled "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" released Saturday June 25,1966,they show a chart on pages 31-36,which is a timeline chart that indicates, according to their method of chronology, all the significant dates of history, important to them and their agenda. From the beginning of the creation to the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth. On page 26 under the sub-title,"Six Thousand Years of Human Existence Closing" we read, and I quote,"The time is fast drawing near for the reality that was foreshadowed by the Jubilee of liberty to be proclaimed throughout the earth to all mankind now oppressed by many enslaving things."end quote. Here they are setting up the reader to receive what is coming next. They are preparing them to receive, what they believe to be directly from the Bible.Page 27 reads, and I quote,"Most certainly the near future would be the most appropriate time for it.God's own written Word indicates that it is the appointed time for it.........Thus we can connect up the Bible's count of time with the world's count of time down to this date."end quote. Here we have the mention of a date that is yet to be shown. They claim an independent group, which is not named, conducted a study that did not blindly follow the traditional chronological calculations of Christendom (pg.29).This independent study was published, and gives the date of man's creation as 4026 B.C.E.They go on to state, and I quote again,"According to this trustworthy Bible chronology six thousand years from man's creation will end in 1975,and the seventh period of a thousand years of human history will begin in the fall of 1975 C.E. So six thousand years of man's existence on earth will soon be up,yes, within this generation."end quote. Here we have a definite date set for the fall of 1975 (p.29,first paragraph). As most scholars agree, and even as the WT itself teaches, the end of the six thousand years of man's rule will culminate at Armageddon, and then Christ will return and defeat the armies of the Anti-Christ,and set up His 1,000 yr.reign.This is the generally accepted understanding of most of Christianity. However, most true Christians know that to set dates for the return of Christ is not only futile,it is in direct conflict with plain Scripture. The WT has now set a date once again, for the end of the world and man's rule on earth. The Fall of 1975 came and past.Did anyone notice the end of man's rule and the setting up of the Millennial Reign of Christ for 1,000 yrs.? No!!! Not one single person noticed this great event. It is a well known fact that when this prophecy failed, nearly 2 million Witnesses left the "Organization" nearly bankrupting it.Today Witnesses are told by their superiors that they never predicted such a thing and that people such as myself were only speculating and that "we" need to do our research.I work with an individual who is a J.W.,and for all intents and purposes, seems to be a very sincere and pleasant individual to work with.I love him in the Lord and am concerned for his welfare, especially knowing the facts about what he is involved in.When I mentioned to him about the WT's failed prophecies,he politely told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and that "I" needed to do more research. So I did more research and this is what I found, that they did in fact make a prediction for the end of the world for the Fall of 1975,and it failed.
it is extremely important as Christians to be aware of the wolves in sheeps clothing,so that we are not swept into this last days attempt to lead many astray from God.Tomorrow I will give my closing thoughts to this subject and move on to other things.Thank you so much for your patience and may God richly bless you....in Christ,J.W.
